NAME:
TITLE: TRANSITION ELEMENTS
AIM: To observe the colour changes associated with the different oxidation states of
Vanadium.
APPARATUS AND MATERIALS:

METHOD:
1. Place approximately 2g of ammonium vanadate NH4VO3 in a beaker.
2. Using a measuring cylinder, add 25cm3 of 2M NaOH to the beaker.
3. Using another measuring cylinder add 50cm3 of 2M H2SO4.
4. Stir contents of the beaker with a glass rod.
5. Add 1g of granulated zinc and continue to stir the contents of the beaker for
15minutes with the glass rod.
