I. Preliminary Activities:
An opening prayer was done to start the meeting. It was led by Mrs.Katrina Kasfi
Lumayag. Afterwhich, the presiding officer, Mrs. Joyce Euseña did the roll call to check
the members in the English Department and thank them wholeheartedly for all their
presence and support extended for the school.
II. Reading/Approval of Previous Minutes:

No matters arising from the previous minutes.
IV. Deliberation of the Agenda:
1. CO Schedules for the First Quarter
Mrs. Joyce Euseña asked each member for the preferred schedule of their
CO. Mrs. Charsy Lamanilao chose October 2, 2023 – 11:00 am- 12:00 nn at
Grade 12 Emilio Jacinto classroom. Mrs. Euseña mentioned that she will be
having the CO around last week of September or first week of October. Mrs.
Olivar mentioned that her preferred date would be next week or last week of
September, same with Mrs. Brillantes and Mrs Lumayag. The exact date and
time will be followed.
2. Results of the GST Junior
The stage 2 of GST will be schedule next month, October. Mrs. Euseña
reported that majority of the Grade 7 needs improvement in reading and
comprehension skills. Mrs. Brillantes added that Grade 8 students have lower
comprehension skills. Mrs. Lumayag reported that even in Grade 9, they still lack
comprehension skills and it showed on the results of their GST that majority of

the students failed the test. For the Grade 10 students, Mrs. Ligtas reported that
out of 193 students, only 163 passed the test.
3. Initial Planning for the English Month
Mrs. Euseña suggested that we can still do what we have used to do
during English Month. Mrs. Olivar suggested having weekly activities and for the
last week would be the culmination. Only rewarding and presentation will be the
highlights for the culmination day. This was agreed by the body.
First Week- Spelling
Second Week – Puzzle
Third Week – Scrabble
Fourth Week – Culmination
This will be done through elimination. Every student can participate and
the declared winner for each section will be competing each other and this would
be done every Friday. There should be 1 declared winner every year level. The
winners will be recognized and awarded on the culmination day.
For their materials, It was agreed that every section must secured 1
scrabble set. Mrs. Lumayag suggested that we can also request our school
committee, Mrs. Madel Baguio for the materials needed. Moreover, Mrs. Eusena
mentioned that we will still meet for another meeting for the continuation of the
planning and assigning of the committees.
4. Other Matters
Students’ Performance and Issues
Grade 7 – As observed by Mrs. Eusena, this school year is better compared to
the last year in terms of their performance as for the moment.
Grade 8 – Mrs. Brillantes mentioned that Grade 8 students need improvement
especially in comprehension skills.
Grade 9 – Mrs. Lumayag observed that some Grade 9 students were slow
readers and needs more activities to enhance their reading skills.
Senior High – Mrs. Olivar informed everyone that our classroom is not a
conducive learning environment due to high volume of students inside the classroom
and this would tempt everyone to cheat during exams.
