NATURAL CHANGES

Changes that occur

MAN- MADE CHANGES

SLOW AND FAST CHANGES

• Changes which occur - very slowly over days ,


months or years.
• Growth of a tree
• Rusting of iron

• Changes which occur- very rapidly in seconds


or minutes
• Burning of a match stick
• Bursting of fire crackers
REVERSIBLE CHANGES

• In a reversible change a ,material turns into something


that looks and feels different. But then it can be changed
back to its original form .
REVERSIBLE CHANGES

• The changes that can be reversed or are a


temporary conversion are called reversible
changes .
• In most reversible changes ,the internal
structure of the substances involved does not
change.
IRREVERSIBLE CHANGES
• The changes that cannot be reversed or are a
permanent conversion are called irreversible changes
• In irreversible changes , there might be a change in
the internal structure of a substance.
• Tearing a sheet of paper is an irreversible change ,
but there is no change in the internal structure of
paper .All the pieces of paper will have the same
internal structure as the untorn sheet of paper.
IRREVERSIBLE CHANGES
• An irreversible change may result in the formation of
a new substance.

• A potter working on his wheel shaped a lump of


clay into a pot. He then baked the pot in an

changes or different? Give your opinion and
justify your answer.
