OVERSEAS WORKERS WELFARE ADMINISTRATION

SCHOLARSHIP AGREEMENT
ETU HEAD OWWA NCR

This agreement is entered by and between and among:


Witness

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) represented by Director,


OWWA Regional Welfare Office- NCR, herein referred to as the Grantor:

residing at ________________________________________________________, herein called the Grantee;

- and - (if the availee is a dependent of OFW)

________________________________, herein called the Parent/Guardian.

WITNESSETH:

WHEREAS, the Grantor is mandated to provide social welfare programs and services
particularly on education and training to support the welfare and development of Overseas
Filipino Workers and their families;

WHEREAS, the Grantee, has complied with the minimum requirements and
qualifications set under existing OWWA scholarship policy/guidelines and hereby awarded
with a program of study leading to a ___________________________________________________ (Course)
at the ____________________________________________ (College/University) effective SY 2024 - 2025
subject to the terms and conditions of this Scholarship Agreement;
Grantee

WHEREAS, the Parent/Guardian, assured that the Grantee shall comply with the
requirements of the academic undertaking and fulfill the terms and conditions of the grant.

NOW THEREFORE, FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION OF THE FOREGOING PREMISES, the


Parties hereby agree as follows:

I. NATURE

The OFW Dependents Scholarship Program (ODSP) a scholarship program that offers
financial assistance amounting to Php20,000.00 per school year to qualified
dependents of OFWs who receive a monthly salary of not more than US$600.00, and
who shall enroll, are currently enrolled or have been enrolled in any four-year or five-

year baccalaureate course or associate course in any college or university.

The scholarship shall be for a duration equivalent to the prescribed period of baccalaureate
course unless earlier terminated for failure to comply with the terms of this Scholarship

III. STUDY PLACEMENT

State Universities and Colleges, Local Universities/Colleges, Private Institutions accredited


by CHED and TESDA

IV. SCHOLARSHIP PRIVILEGES

Financial assistance amounting to Twenty Thousand Pesos (Php20,000.00) per year may be

utilized to cover payment of tuition fees, miscellaneous fees/other school fees, and other school
related expenses.

V. SCHOLARSHIP OBLIGATIONS

A. The Grantor
1. Provide scholarship to the Grantee and administer the scholarship grant based on the
rules and guidelines governing the scholarship;
2. Provide guidance and supervision regularly to the Grantee throughout the duration of the
course; and
3. Reserve the right to suspend or terminate this scholarship for failure of the Grantee to
meet the scholarship requirements and/or maintain the prescribed grade point average
(GPA) or to comply with any of the terms and conditions of this Agreement effective as of

the date indicated in a written notice to the Grantee and Parent/Guardian.

B. The Grantee

1. Finish the education program within the prescribed period of baccalaureate course unless
earlier terminated for failure to comply with the terms of this Agreement;
2. Maintain a passing GPA of at least 80% per term for the continuance of the scholarship
until completion of the course;
3. Enroll not less than the regular load for the semester/term as stated in the course
curriculum, except when the Grantee has less number of units required to complete the
course and/or when the subject(s) is/are not offered;
4. Enroll only in subjects specified in the approved program of study, otherwise, payment of

such will be shouldered by the Grantee and/or Parent/Guardian;


5. Comply with the prescribed standards set under “Manual on the Implementation of
Scholarship Programs” which will form part of this Agreement, marked as Annex “A”; and
6. Submit the Official Certificate of Grades, Registration Form and other required supporting
documents to continue receiving the grant.

C. The Parents /Guardian

1. Ensure that the Grantee completes the academic/course requirements;


2. Monitor the Grantee’s academic performance and completion of the grant;

3. Assist the Grantee in the submission of required documentary requirements for


continuation of scholarship grant;
4. Pay for the excess amount in case tuition fee exceeds the allowable financial assistance
per school year; and
5. Assume the obligation to pay whatever amount the Grantee shall be required to
refund/reimburse due to non-compliance to the guidelines set forth under this
Agreement.

VI. OTHER PROVISIONS


Parent/Guardian

A. AVAILMENT OF OTHER SCHOLARSHIP GRANT

1. The eligible OFW or its qualified dependent shall avail only one (1) type of OWWA
scholarship program.
2. The Grantee shall not avail any scholarship grant that may interfere with the terms and
conditions of this scholarship program.

B. SUMMER TERM

The financial assistance per school year shall be inclusive of the summer term fees and
other related expenses provided that the subjects is/are required in the curriculum and
cannot be taken during regular semestral schedules.

C. LEAVE OF ABSENCE (LOA)


Grantee

1. The maximum duration of LOA is two (2) consecutive semesters for approval of the
Regional Scholarship Committee (RSCom).
2. LOA that exceeds beyond two (2) semesters shall be for approval of the National
Scholarship Committee (NSCom).

D. SHIFTING OF PROGRAM OF STUDY/TRANSFER OF SCHOOL

1. The request for shifting and/or transfer during 1st year college up to 2nd year college
shall be assessed and approved at the level of RSCom.

2. The request for shifting and/or transfer during the last two (2) school years shall be
assessed and approved at the level of NSCom.
3. All requests for shifting of program of study and/or transfer of school shall be
supported with the following documents duly signed by the current School Registrar or
school’s designated officer:
3.1. Certificate of credited units
3.2. Approval of the request e.g. certification/letter.

E. DEFERMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP

The Grantee shall be allowed to defer scholarship for a maximum period of one (1) year,
subject to RSCom approval. If after this period, the Grantee failed to enroll, the
scholarship entitlement will be automatically forfeited.

F. SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

In the event that the Grantee fails to comply with the terms and condition of this
Agreement the scholarship grant may be suspended and/or terminated.

G. SERVICE OBLIGATION

After completion of the scholarship grant, the scholars must render at least one (1) year
service obligation to the following:
• OWWA or DOLE; and/or
• Any government or private sector/industry office.
