HIGH-LEVEL SUMMARY
When we think of living on another planet, we normally
imagine planets very similar to Earth, that are suitable for
human habitation, but there are only a few currently known
that fit that criteria. Movies and video games normally depict
space exploration to be something easy and normally stray
away from scientific concepts. With PROVIDENCE, we aspire
to take players on a journey to Toliman, a planet in Alpha
Centauri that isn’t normally suitable for human life. You can
work alone or with friends, to survive and explore on this
planet. The game is designed based on true scientific
concepts, for example, you can’t just plant a plant and be
done with it. You have to be sure there’s enough oxygen for it
to survive and that the place where it is planted is suitable.

WHY A VIDEO GAME?
The video game industry has a market size of more than
200 billion dollars, it is the easiest way to communicate with
the next generations. However, there is a lack of realistic space
exploration games, especially accessible ones. An optionally
multiplayer game also helps people connect all around the
world and help each other survive on Toliman.
GAMEPLAY:
The game would be set in two different environments: the
space voyage (on the way there and back), and surviving.
During the space voyage, you would have to deal with simple
problems, like eating and drinking water, making sure the
ship is straying in the right direction, and repairing parts if
need be.
Once arriving on the planet, during the first few weeks you
would have a quest to set up the base and adapt it to the
difficulties of the planet. And then, for the rest, you'd have to
set up a routine of growing food and producing water, and
keeping up with the constant progress you'd have to make in
order to find this predator, as well as improving your base
(emphasis on that part).
IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT:
It would teach players in an interactive way what it's like to
live on a planet other than Earth;
It would generate interest in space exploration among users,
prompting them to do more research on the subject;
The game would contain several " guides" based on scientific
studies about how certain pieces of equipment work, such as
an explanation of the WRS and OGS systems. These "guides"
would also explain whether that piece of equipment, feature,
or characteristic of the planet is accurate or not.
