CHAPTER 4

4.0 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

4.1 CONCLUSION

A part-time job survey was conducted among UITM students at UITM Pasir Gudang. All
questionnaires were disseminated via WhatsApp, and 50 responses were received from
chosen students using simple random sampling. Simple random sampling is a method of
choosing a group for a study where everyone has an equal chance of being selected, like
drawing names from a box to ensure fairness and no bias. Most of our correspondents are
from the Faculty of Chemical it is interesting to see their opinions about working part-time
during academic hour.

The data collected from the survey shows that more than half of the respondents are
females. The majority of the respondents answered interested in gaining new experiences
while a small percentage answered financial necessity that motivates students to seek side
income. We also added a question in the questionnaire about how the part-time job impacts
student's personal development. Most of the respondents answered that a part-time job helps
students with problem-solving abilities and 8 out of 50 respondents do not impact
significantly personal development.

Motivates students to seek side income, in this case,22 of the students said that they were
interested in gaining new experience by doing part-time jobs while the other 3 responded they
do part-time jobs to cover their basic expenses. Working part-time jobs among students is not
new, so we asked to prioritize work experience or academic performance while taking part-
time jobs. The results are unexpected most of the respondents answered both equally, this
choice of answer are struggle among the students who have positions in UITM. Working
part-time jobs is popular among students, so we asked for a piece of advice for those still in
dilemma in doing a part-time job or just studying. Most of the respondents answered focused
on time management, time management is the key point of how organized the person is. If the
person is well organized and balances studying and working there is no problem in dealing
with emergency submitted assignments in time.

In summary, the study shows that doing part-time jobs has pros and cons for the
individual in balancing work and study life it is encouraging to consider taking a part-time
job. Besides, earning some pocket money to cover expenses, we can also gain some new
experience and can add to our resume for a better personal brand. Through part-time jobs,
students can also boost their confidence and improve in social skills for a better approach to
others.
4.2 RECOMMENDATION

The university and local businesses can collaborate for students to earn some money
and the work also aligns with the academic goals. These opportunities can broaden the
student's point of view on the experience of work. Must avoid working overtime to avoid
burnout during academic sessions so it does not affect academic scores. Doing a schedule for
a better arrangement so that we can maximize our daily life and also do some productive
activities like jogging at noon for a productive day. Students should take a part-time job for a
better understanding of how hard to earn some cash and it can also reflect that our parents go
through this hardship every day to support our studies.

In addition, the university should help students find part-time jobs that are flexible
and don’t interfere with their studies. For example, students could work on weekends or
during the evenings, so they can focus on their classes during the day. The university can also
work with local businesses to create job opportunities that fit around students’ schedules. It’s
important for students to make a plan so they can balance their time between work, studies,
and rest. They shouldn’t work too many hours, or they might get too tired to focus on their
studies. A good idea is to take part-time jobs that don’t require too much time, so students
can manage both work and school without feeling too stressed.

Last but not least, the university also can organize workshops to teach students how to
manage their time and money wisely. This will help them be more prepared for the
challenges of balancing work and school. With proper guidance, students can learn how to
use their part-time jobs to build useful skills, earn some money, and still perform well in their
studies.
