“Yuki Bhambri”

Tennis Player
A. Read the article about a tennis player and answer the
questions.
1 Yuki Bhambri is one of the best tennis players in India. He was born in New Delhi
in July 1992 and started playing tennis at the age of six. It was soon clear that
Yuki was more talented than many other players of his age, and he began to take
part in competitions.
5 In 2008, Yuki competed in the four Junior Grand Slam Tournaments, which are the
most important tennis tournaments in the world. He didn’t win any any of these,
but he showed that he had an amazing talent. In the same year, he won the
Orange Bowl, which is another important international tennis tournament. He was
the first Indian player to win that competition.
10 In 2009, Yuki’s career became even more exciting when he won the final of the
junior Australian Open.
Then in August 2010 he played in the finals of the first Youth Olympic Games in
Singapore. Unfortunately, he had to give up the match due to an injury. But he
won the siver medal and that was a great achievement.
15 About Yuki ...
He comes from a sporty family. His sisters Ankita and Sanaa Bhambri are also
both professional tennis players.
He trained at the Bollettieri Academy in Florida, which is a school that combines
tennis training with ordinary lessons. Some of the most famous tennis players in
the world trained there, including Andre Agassi and Maria Sharapova.
