Class, before we proceed to our new
lesson, who among you remember our
lesson yesterday?

Very good! That is right, I’m glad that


everyone understands the lesson
yesterday! Keep it up!

4. Motivation
Before we start our lesson, we will first having
a game called “hanapin moa ko” in which
each one of you will search or hunt a word
that would be aligned to our lesson

Based from our game a while ago, or
based from the figures that you have
arranged do you have any idea on what
will be our topic for today?

Anyone?

Very good. Our topic, for today is all


about measurement of each figure.

C. Discussion
Common Hazards
1.Violent forces- kick back, push-back, or
pull-in are violent forces that suddenly and
uncontrollably occur caused by
malfunctioning handheld or quick-cut tools.
2. Pinched cuts- these is due to the object
being cut moves.
3. Blunt-cutting edges- caused by utilizing a
saw blade or a drill with the in appropriate
diamond cutting bond.
4.Unsafe grip- erroneous grip or stance may
affect the handling of hand tools and its
efficiency.
5.wrong-size blades-blades that might be too
small or too large affect the safety.
6. Hazardous Dust- usually emitted by
activities such as cutting or drilling concrete
and cement.
7.loose hair and clothing- loose hair, beard,
and clothing might get stuck between the
machines and equipment.
8.toxic fumes- emissions of toxic gases may
accumulate to hazardous levels for humans.
9. insufficient guarding- guarding on concrete
or masonry saws must be effective enough or
else there will be a greater injury risk.
10. electric wires, gas or water pipes- may be
root cause or electrocution if not examined
properly by the workers and employers.
11. uneven surfaces- unstable surfaces may
cause the workers to stumble, as well as
unexpected movement of tools, materials and
equipment.
12. wet floors- may cause humans to slip and
fall.
13. working alone- this a hazard because
most masonry works require assistance and
some job requirements are too dangerous to
be performed alone.
14. noise- excessive noise is a workplace
hazard for person’s hearing.

Safety Signs and Symbols


Danger Signs- usually utilized for immediate
and currently existing hazards. This sign dis
allows a certain-behaviors that could
contribute to likelihood accidents.
Characteristics;
 Predominantly red
 Additional information may be written
on the sign for further clarification
 Red is also used for fire protection
Caution Signs- this-signs warns workers
about hazardous substances nearby such as
heavy equipment, debris, electricity, or
dangerous gas.
Characteristics:
 Yellow is used to caution workers from
impending hazards
 Black must be used for the wordings
because it creates contrast against
yellow.
Exit Signs- direct workers to pathways in case
of emergencies and the workers must leave
the premises immediately.
Characteristics:
 In accordance with the standard, exit
Signs must be lettered in legible while letters
against a red background.

Safety Instruction Signs- provide locations of


emergency escapes routes and first-aid
treatment spots.
Characteristics:
 To illustrate safety, green must be
used. It could be a sign that a first aid
kit area is nearby.
Directional Signs- this sign points the worker
to the appropriate aisles or certain location in
the workplace.
Characteristics:
 The color scheme varies for every
workplace as long as the signs are
reasonably readable even from afar.
Traffic Signs-are usually seen around
construction areas for the protection of the
construction workers at point hazard or where
the accident is more likely to occur.
Characteristics:
 Traffics signs are predominantly red
with white and bold lettering.
Accidental Prevention Tags- directs a worker
to do a specific behavior like a sign that
directs the worker to wear personal protective
equipment. Accident prevention tags are
usually temporary and meant for the sole
purpose of preventing the currently existing
hazard such as defective tools or equipment.
Characteristics:
Tags vary from one workplace to another.

BARRICADE- is another essential type of


signs and symbols.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT


(PPE)
- An encompassing term for all
equipment which humans can wear for
protection against hazards in the
workplace.
1.Googles and masks- usually worn to avoid
the risk caused by flying particles, liquid
chemicals, or hazardous gas.
2.Safety shoes- which are created especially
for high impact protection against falling
objects or sharp objects that puncture
ordinary shoes.
3.Glooves- protect masons from cuts,
scrapes, punctures, burns chemical
absorption, and exhaust temperature while
handling materials such as lumber.
4. ear muffs or ear plugs- ensures that
workers are not exposed to more than 90
decibel noise during eight hours which is the
standard working hours in the Philippines.

PROTOCOL IN CASE OF ACCIDENTS,


FIRE, AND EMERGENCIES
1.Always maintain your composure and
remember that panicking will not improve the
situation.
2. carefully analyze the situation.
3. immediately inform your teacher about the
accident.
4. apply first aid to the victim if necessary
while waiting for a medical practitioner.
E. Application
For your activity you will be divided into 8
groups and you will answer true or false to
the questions stated, each group will receive
flashcards to raised.
