6. Ashoka Tree (Polyalthia longifolia)

Appearance
7. Pomegranate (Punica granatum)
Appearance
The pomegranate is a shrub or small tree growing 5 to 10 m high, with multiple spiny branches. It is long-
lived, with some specimens in France surviving for 200 years. Pomegranate leaves are glossy, oblong,
and 3–7 cm long and 2 cm wide.

Growing conditions
Pomegranates are drought-tolerant, and can be grown in dry areas with either a
Mediterranean winter rainfall climate or in summer rainfall climates. In wetter areas,
they can be prone to root decay from fungal diseases. They can tolerate moderate
frost, down to about −12 °C

Location
Pomegranates are grown in many places, including India, Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, California, Arizona
and the Mediterranean region:

The golden shower tree is a medium-sized tree, growing to 10–20 m tall with fast growth. The leaves are
deciduous, 15–60 cm long. The tree has strong and very durable wood.

Growing conditions
Growth for this tree is best in full sun on well-drained soil; it is relatively drought-tolerant and slightly
salt-tolerant. It will tolerate light brief frost, but can get damaged if the cold persists. The tree blooms
better with pronounced differences between summer and winter temperatures

Location
The tree is frequently cultivated in Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. It is also grown in India and Thailand

9. Syngonium auritum or five Fingers

Appearance
Syngonium arricum features striking arrow-shaped leaves that start off pale green and mature into a rich,
dark green with silver or white veins. The foliage has a glossy texture, making it visually appealing. It
grows as a vining plant, often trailing or climbing with delicate, elongated stems. Over time, its compact
growth and attractive leaf pattern make it a popular choice for indoor spaces.

Growing conditions
Syngonium arricum thrives in warm, humid environments and prefers indirect or filtered light. It grows
best in well-draining, moist soil rich in organic matter, and should be watered regularly to keep the soil
slightly moist, but not soggy. This plant enjoys temperatures between 60-80°F (15-27°C) and high
humidity, so misting or placing it near a humidifier can benefit its growth.

Location
It is native to tropical regions of Central and South America, particularly found in countries like Costa
Rica, Panama, and parts of Colombia and Ecuador.

10. Asparagus aethiopious L or sprengers Asparagus

Appearance
Sprenger's Asparagus (Asparagus densiflorus) has feathery, needle-like foliage that forms a bushy, soft
texture. The arching stems can grow up to 3-4 feet long, creating a trailing effect. It produces small, white
flowers and red berries, though they are not particularly showy. The plant is often used in hanging baskets
or as ground cover

Growing conditions
Sprenger's Asparagus thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sun. It prefers well-
draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil and requires moderate watering, allowing the soil to dry out
between waterings. The plant enjoys warm temperatures (60-75°F or 15-24°C) and humidity, making it
ideal for indoor growth. It can also handle occasional drought once established but should be protected
from frost.

Location
It is common in the United States (especially in USDA zones 9-11, like California, Florida, and parts of
Texas), Australia, and Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Italy, and Greece. It is also found in parts
of Asia, including India and Southeast Asia.

to its dense foliage

Growing conditions
Garden privet (Ligustrum vulgare) prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil and can tolerate a range of
soil types, including clay and loam. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and is quite adaptable to various
light conditions. The plant is drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering,
