The Blue Arctic Willow, “Salix purpurea 'Nana'”

This willow is a Deciduous Shrub.

The willow has a lifespan of roughly 40 years or more, and

the life stages of the willow result from it being planted in a
place with well-drained or saturated soil, and if watered
frequently in an area with full or partial sun coverage, it can
grow up to 20 feet.

It can grow to 8 feet in just 2 years, and

originally it’s quite purplish but turns to become more
olive-gray.

to prevent erosion from flood and

baskets and tying up grape vines at vineyards, and finally
it is also used for ornamental purposes in gardens.

The trunk and roots

also help shelter rabbits,
and are browsed by
deer and beavers.

While the willow is not endangered, it is threatened by

Willow blight, a fatal disease brought by two fungi
affecting leaves and stems as a result of summer
hailstorms. It is also not poisonous or invasive.
