Kelly and Fiona wrote about their mothers for the school magazine. Read their writing carefully, choose
the best answers for Questions 1–5 and complete Question 6.

Our Mother

It is Mother’s Day soon. I would like to say ‘thank you’ to my mum. She is a Super
Mum! We do not have a helper. My mum works in the daytime and does the housework
in the nighttime. She got a job when I was three. At first I was not happy because I did
not see her much and I had to do a lot of things by myself. But soon I became very
independent. I could not pack my school bag by myself when I was three but I could 5

carry it. When I was eight, I could fold the clothes and sweep the floor.

Now I am a big girl. I will be twelve years old next month. I can help more at home.
I can make lunch. On Mother’s Day, Mum can take a break and enjoy my cooking.

Kelly Lam (Class 6C)

My mum is the best mum in the world. She is good at cooking. Her dishes are more 10

delicious than what we eat at restaurants. My favourite dish is spaghetti with meat sauce.
Yummy!

When I was four, I was very sick and weak. Mum helped me climb the stairs and carried
my school bag. She often did exercise with me so now I am strong. We still go cycling
together every Saturday. 15

My mum is also the most humorous person I have ever met. She always makes me
laugh.
