(i) (a) Draw the structural formulae of the two isomers of Butane. Give the correct IUPAC

(b) State one use of acetylene.

(ii) Write the equation for the following reactions: [2]

(b) Dilute Sulphuric acid and Sodium sulphide

(iii) Two columns A and B are given. [3]

extraction of aluminum is obtained by heating aluminum hydroxide.

(ii) Find the empirical formula and the molecular formula of an organic compound from the
data given below : [2]
C = 75.92%, H = 6.32% and N = 17.76%
The vapour density of the compound is 39.5.

(iii) Give reasons for the following : [3]


(a) Though ammonium nitrite readily gives nitrogen on heating, a mixture of ammonium
chloride and sodium nitrite in water is heated to prepare nitrogen in laboratory.
