LIFESTYLE DISEASES
LIFESTYLE DISEASES
Lifestyle diseases are non-communicable
diseases that are linked to the way people live
their lives. They are chronic in nature and
cannot be spread from person to person.
Lifestyle diseases are caused by a
combination of factors, including genetics,
physiology, environment, and behaviors.
Lifestyle diseases are a major public health
problem worldwide. They are responsible for
a large number of deaths and disabilities
each year.

CANCER OBESITY COPD
HEART DISEASE
Eating a diet high in saturated fats, trans fat, and
cholesterol has been linked to heart disease and related
conditions, such as atherosclerosis. Also, too much salt
(sodium) in the diet can raise blood pressure
STROKE
Stroke risk increases with age, but strokes
can and do occur at any age. Early action
is important for stroke. Stroke statistics
vary by race and ethnicity.
TYPE II DIABETES
Type 2 diabetes is a common condition that causes
the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood to become too
high. It can cause symptoms like excessive thirst,
needing to pee a lot and tiredness. Many people have
no symptoms. It increases your risk of getting serious
problems with your eyes, feet, heart and nerves.
CANCER
The cancer, or its treatment, may cause a range of
side effects, such as pain, nausea, fatigue or
breathlessness. These can affect what you can
comfortably do and your sense of independence.
OBESITY
Obesity is a chronic medical condition caused by
excess visceral fat. It may raise your risk of
developing multiple health conditions, including heart
disease and diabetes. Treatment can include lifestyle
changes and medication. In some cases, it can
involve surgery.
COPD
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an
ongoing lung condition caused by damage to the
lungs. The damage results in swelling and irritation,
also called inflammation, inside the airways that limit
airflow into and out of the lungs. This limited airflow is
known as obstruction

CONCLUSION
Lifestyle diseases are on the rise globally, and India is no exception. These diseases, which
are largely preventable, are caused by unhealthy lifestyle choices such as poor diet, lack of
physical activity, and smoking. They are a major burden on the healthcare system and the
economy.
There are many things that can be done to prevent lifestyle diseases. These include eating
a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and not smoking. It is also important to get
regular checkups to detect and treat any underlying health conditions.
Making healthy lifestyle choices is not always easy, but it is important for everyone to do
their part to prevent these diseases. By making small changes, we can all help to reduce
the burden of lifestyle diseases on ourselves and our families.
