Title: A review on Effective Flood Risk Management with AI approaches
Introduction
As in the growing world we can clearly see somewhat of a growing population nowadays
which is leading to growing effects of every autonomous activity on the planet and the
society. The impact of the following increasing population surge is evident to the growing
vulnerability of natural disasters i.e. storms, floods and wildfires. As we all sustain the
consequences of overpopulation in the modern world, It is mandatory to understand the
intricate relationship between the population dynamics and natural disaster, for developing
some proactive strategies which can mitigate the impacts of these disasters. Attributed to
global recent climatic changes, the world has been struck with high-intensity natural disasters
everyday, more than 560 per year will be experienced by 2030, for instance, a natural disaster
occurs every two days. Natural disasters can cause widespread destruction, leading to loss of
life and property damage. To prevent these consequences, early warning systems, disaster
preparedness plans, and sustainable land use practices can help mitigate the impact of natural
disasters. From hurricanes and floods to wildfires and earthquakes, the one rule has always
been i.e. natural disasters have haunted humanity from the ancient times (Falco and Corbi
2022). These include lives threatened and even losses of infrastructure globally, not
forgetting man-made disasters that affect the delicate ecosystems. Besides these fast
developing issue flooding that occurs increasingly and notably is likely to be considered. The
power and universality of flooding has posed global communities with an ever-increasing
threat which inscribes itself with destructive and irreversible consequences. Climate change
leads to new weather patterns and periods of extreme rainfall which gives rise to flood risks
and as a result there are more lives, facilities and ecology systems that face vulnerabilities. As
a result, AI technology deployments in flood risk management could be seen as one of the
novel directions to consider. AI handles this by evaluating big data, find out different
complex patterns which yields informed decisions in the various fields of life. Our main
perspective is to research on such algorithms that can predict the impacts of the floods in the
particular highly dangerous areas like areas near to the water bodies or have a lower altitude.
We have always seen that floods are the most worst occurring disasters worldwide causing
the abrupt losses to us financially and life losses. Some branches of engineering aim to plan,
analyse and develop such projects for the control, management of the various water resource.
As we are dealing with AI methods , we must know that these require huge datasets of
previous happenings for developing AI models that could predicate and help in the problem
we are working with.

Methodology
To comprehensively address the research objectives, the methodology is structured into
distinct sections. Firstly, a thorough literature review is conducted to gather insights into
existing methodologies, models, and case studies related to flood risk analysis and mitigation
strategies. Subsequently, data collection efforts are focused on acquiring pertinent datasets
encompassing topographic, hydrological, land use, and climate information, supplemented by
remote sensing data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools for risk identification.
The risk analysis phase employs hydrological models and GIS-based simulations to assess
flood scenarios, integrating climate change projections to anticipate future risks. Stakeholder
engagement is pivotal throughout the process, facilitating the identification of priorities and
concerns for effective decision-making. Cost-benefit analysis guides the evaluation of
mitigation strategies, informing the development of a prioritization framework that balances
effectiveness, affordability, and social equity. Finally, validation procedures ensure the
reliability of findings, enabling the documentation of results and recommendations in a
comprehensive research paper tailored to policymakers, planners, and practitioners in flood
risk management domains. Through this structured methodology, the research endeavors to
contribute actionable insights towards enhancing flood resilience and sustainable
development in vulnerable regions.
