Do you think students or teenagers will join the military if there is a war? Vice
President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte said, It would be better to impose the
proposed mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) course in college.
A mandatory rotc is designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in
order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national defense preparedness. This
course is intended to prepare and equip the students with knowledge, skills, and attitude in
carrying out national service in the event of national emergencies and to assist the socio-
economic development of the country.I agree with this because ROTC will teach younger
generations about the essence of patriotism. It will inculcate in their minds and hearts a deep
love for one's country.
It can prepare college students for possible service in the defense establishment
during the event of an emergency, train officers and enlisted personnel for the reserve
components of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and train potential Officers for
possible direct commissionship in the AFP.
Research has shown that ROTC programs can have a positive impact on students'
academic performance. A study published in the Journal of Political Science Education found
that students who participated in ROTC programs had higher grade point averages (GPAs)
and were more likely to graduate than non-ROTC students. ROTC programs can provide
valuable leadership training and experience for students. This can be beneficial for those who
are interested in pursuing a military career or serving in a leadership role in other fields. You
may disagree with it because there will be more responsibilities in college but you are getting
an education and a career in one fell swoop.
It is not appropriate for me to express an opinion on whether or not someone should
agree to participate in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program. ROTC is a college-
based program that provides students with the opportunity to receive officer training and
education in the military while pursuing their civilian studies.
Remember that disagreeing in mandatory can be a good idea, but what about the
opportunities that are waiting for you? I also think some military training can help with the
general discipline that most people in the Philippines lack.
It appears that the purpose of a mandatory rotc (Reserve Officer Training Corps)
program is to provide military training to tertiary level (college or university) students in
order to prepare them for national defense in the event of national emergencies, and to
assist with socio-economic development in the country. The program is intended to motivate,
train, organize, and mobilize students for national service.
So in general ROTC can provide a sense of purpose and the opportunity to serve one's
country and can provide a structured and supportive environment for personal and
professional development.Ultimately, whether or not to agree to participate in ROTC is a
personal decision that should be based on one's individual goals, values, and interests.
