Internship Report

I got my internship at International

Finance Magazine, a premium
business, and finance magazine
published in the UK by UK’s
International Finance Publications
Limited.

The tenure of my internship was from

1st July 2022 to 2nd September 2022.

The company has two branches in

Bangalore, one at M G Road and the
other one at Vasanth Nagar. I was
working at Vasanth Nagar's branch.

I was doing my internship under the

company's Editor-in-chief - Mr. Sanjay
Kumar.

I began my internship by analyzing

how the organization worked, what
kind of stories it produced, who were
its target audience, what were the roles and responsibilities of the content
generation team, what was the structure of the stories, and the hierarchy of
teams such as human resources, marketing, content generation and admin
working in the organization.

I got a lot of help from my senior content writer - Malvika Chawla from Gurgaon
who has worked previously with TV9 and has an experience of 2 years in the
industry. Sub-editor - Prajwal Welle from Nagpur who has worked with TV9 with
an experience of 2 years in the industry and Deputy Editor - C L Ramakrishnan
from Chennai who has worked with The New Indian Express and has an
experience of 7 years in the industry.

My Editor-in-chief Sanjay Kumar from Delhi who has worked with Microsoft,
Times of India, Hindustan Times, NDTV, and India Today helped me a lot during
this period especially in getting the quotes from the experts.

We were a team of four, responsible for content production of both the stories on
the web as well as the magazine.

We used to write stories for International Finance Magazine and Global Business
Outlook.

The team used to produce and publish three stories a day picked up from the
feed and we used to rewrite the story with a different perspective by adding up
more information.

My team has helped me a lot and taught me how to do research, how to rewrite
and edit an article, how to write a byline story, and how to contact various experts
globally to get their quotes for the byline story which helped me to build my
contacts and create a pipeline of the network.

This internship has also taught me how to deal with the targets concerning the
timeline of submitting the story for publication.

For a web story, the minimum word criteria was 250 words limited to 850 for the
maximum.

For a magazine story, the minimum word criteria for a featured story was 1450
words and 1750 words for an analytical story.

The reason why I chose International Finance Magazine for my internship was
because of my keen interest in the financial media and industry.

It was a desk job, Monday to Friday, 10 am - 6 pm, which involved rewriting the
stories and writing one byline story per week.

Apart from rewriting a story per day, I have written four byline stories for the
organization.

My byline stories are yet to be published in the magazine. My first byline story will
be published in the November - December issue of the International Finance
Magazine.

My rewritten stories for the magazine are also not yet published in the magazine.

During the tenure of my internship, the company was working on hardcore news
which was then shifted to soft stories and analytical stories as the owner of the
company - Sunil Bhatt and the Editor-in-chief thought to change their strategy
because the organization was unable to compete with its competitors such as
Reuters, CNBC, BBC, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, CNN, The Guardian, etc.

With a discerning focus on emerging markets and Europe, we at International

Finance provided news, features, analysis, commentary, and interviews from the
industry.

To get quotes for our by-line story we used to contact 30-40 people by mail and
we used to get only 2-3 responses.

Most of the struggle involved writing a by-line story and getting quotes for it.
We addressed key economic and business developments and used them to
engage, inform, and connect business leaders, decision-makers, investors, and
companies in key markets with factual content every day.

We at International Finance Magazine covered stories on banking and finance,

Islamic finance, asset management, wealth management, hedge funds, pension
funds, sovereign wealth funds, real estate, fintech, and currencies, as well as
niche funding and investment opportunities.

In addition, the magazine and website extensively covered non-financial industry

verticals such as energy, oil and gas, telecom, construction, utilities, ports and
shipping, aviation, and healthcare and health-tech.

The magazine and website have a growing readership in Europe and the Middle
East, especially in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, and
Kuwait as well as in select fast-developing African nations.

International Finance also has a growing readership in the Asia Pacific.

As International Finance is a subscription-based magazine that reaches several

C-level executives and leading decision-makers in key markets across Europe,
the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, and Latin America, we had most of the
target audience in these areas.

With limited options for the target audience, it was a little difficult task for me to
get ideas for my byline stories.

All went well in my internship and I got an opportunity to learn a lot by working
with experienced people in the industry.

Though I did not receive any stipend for my internship, the company offered me a
job after completing my degree with a salary of 30,000 a month.

ABSTRACT

This report summarises the activities I was involved in during a one-month

internship at The Quint from June 20th to July 20th, 2022. My responsibilities
included producing, curating, writing, reviewing, researching, and analysing
stories and contents about health and fitness, its benefits, issues, treatments,
precautions, and advice, among other things.

This internship provided an excellent opportunity for me to put some of what I

had learned in earlier academic courses to use. Furthermore, I was able to hone
some soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management.
I was taught the way of writing article headlines that is not only unique, eye-
catchy and meaningful, but leads to an article or a piece that is worth reading.
I was able to understand how to write and separate the contents of an article or a
story piece. Throughout the process, I learnt the importance of subtitles, sub-
headers, blurps, quotes, hyperlinks, images, captions, credentials, related stories,
and many more.

Overall, I am happy with the results of my internship. I was able to use my

knowledge and apply it in a real working organisation with professionals. Due to
the short time period, I took this experience as an opportunity to provide my
team with the skills I learned in the last three years as a journalism student at
ASU.

Page 5
COMPANY INFORMATION

After their exit from Network18, Raghav Bahl and Ritu Kapur launched The
Quint, an Indian general news and opinion website in both English and Hindi in
the year 2015.

The Quint focuses on journalism that is informative and explicative in its

journalistic content. Newsletters, multimedia, documentary series, live video
broadcasts, graphic journalism, and podcasts are the main modes of
presentation. The website has written a variety of noteworthy articles on
subjects like sexual harassment, free speech, and Hindu nationalism.

The publication also runs WebQoof, a fact-checking project accredited by the

International Fact-Checking Network, to counteract misinformation. The fact-
checking department welcomes user submissions of allegations for verification
because it operates as a public service. It has access to hundreds of unverified
claims through audience involvement and uses resource-intensive approaches,
such as hiring journalists to fact-check claims and expose hoaxes.

The English language edition of the news outlet, The Quint, the Hindi language
edition, The Quint Hindi, and the healthcare news website, FIT, are all
available online. The Quint's co-founder, Raghav Bahl, claims that the website's
distinctive feature is its wide range of reporting, which "includes policy,
politics, sports, business, food, entertainment and everything else" and goes
beyond the "narrow focus" of other news sources.

Page 6
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

At The Quint, I worked on Editorial Content Management where my role was

to produce and curate stories and contents using content management system,
keeping in mind the purpose of educating readers on specific topic or issue. I
worked directly with the FIT team in developing and executing a consistent
editorial calendar.

I had produced and curated editorial contents for Quint Fit where experts
conveyed information and their opinions. The goal of the content is to inform
and educate audience with the purpose of delivering valuable insights and
information.
I was assigned to edit and develop various stories and articles related to health
and fitness through publication's content management system on a regular
basis.

Along with the members of the FIT team, I was also a part of overseeing the
whole publishing process, from brainstorming ideas to working with writers,
and photographers to evaluating final proofs.

Page 9
OVERVIEW OF INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

At The Quint, there is a tremendous amount of training and learning that can
be done. There is a lot of support, and they are concerned about your well-
being too. There is a lot you can learn from the reporters from different areas,
and the publication has its own content management system where you can
view all of your published content.

I got the chance to use new software that I hadn't encountered before, which
was extremely useful, enough for me to learn and understand what goes in
publishing different editorial contents.
Because so much of the job we do is time-sensitive, my ability to keep track
of the time has also drastically improved. As a result, your schedule quickly
fills up and you have a full schedule for the day.

Another factor that I've found to be really beneficial is the enhancement of

my analytical skills. You get to read and watch a lot of stuff before reviewing
it to see if it's relevant, original, and interesting enough to publish. As a
result, when you read and watch anything, you must be very analytical. I
can't read or watch TV anymore without critiquing it in my head.

Initially, like almost every intern, it was challenging for me too because for
an individual who has only been learning from professionals, working with
professionals was on another level. However, I consider myself fortunate
enough to have had a terrific team of individuals surrounding me because I
know that many people have had a negative experience with internships and
have been left out.

Page 10
OVERVIEW OF INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

My team were all really lovely and my supervisor couldn't help enough. I
thought they'd be demanding a lot more of me, but they were extremely
understanding and patient. No one made me feel like I was only there for a
limited period so they didn't need to bother with me. It's very easy to feel
comfortable in that environment, because nobody is dismissing you as
"just an intern" and no one is frightened to help you out.

Along with developing my work abilities, I've also made loads of great
connections. I've also honed my skills a bit better. With things like
researching and analysing, my skills have become so much better. And I
am extremely happy with the progress of my listening and writing skills.
Now I'm a lot more confident and independent. I have been motivated by
the realisation that I can truly achieve this and that I want to do it.

Page 11
ONGOING CONSIDERATION

While I had many useful experiences at The Quint, I feel that I still need to
develop my confidence level with testing and polish my skills because I
realised a lot goes into achieving something you really want to or dream of
than you expect.

Because internships have a negative image, you go in expecting to get all

the bad positions and not learn much. I got to shadow some wonderful
people and had learnt a lot from them. One should go for it with the
training; if they offer it, take advantage of it, whether it's tech training,
Google Docs, or even learning how to use your Mac or PC more
effectively.

To sum up, my experience with The Quint was crucial in my development

as a journalism student. I am grateful to have been able to get the
opportunity to work in such a reputed and student friendly organisation. I
will take the lessons and skills I learned and apply them in my academic
field as well as in my next position.

Internship Organisation: India Ahead News Pvt Ltd
Introduction

This internship report was written to provide an overview of the

activities and projects I completed during my two-month internship
at the Social Media Department of India ahead. During this
period, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of social
media tools and platforms, which I applied to a variety of tasks. I
was also able to get an in-depth understanding of the importance
of social media in the modern business world. In addition, I gained
valuable knowledge and skills that I can use in the future.
Work Tasks

During my internship, I was responsible for executing a variety of

tasks related to social media. This included setting up and
managing accounts on various social media platforms, creating
content for the channel’s social media pages, and posting live
news chunks on all the social media platforms of the channel.
As a part of Social Media department, my work was to cut live news
chunks from Twitter Live -Twitter Live is connected to the channel's live
news broadcast, then write the news for that chunk and post it on all
the social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and
YouTube. After my training, seeing my hard work and sincerity towards
the job I was then the task handled the whole day's bulletin solely, but
my seniors always crosschecked my work. After half-a-month I handled
the prime debate shows that were aired in the evening.
The most crucial part of my job was taking the solo responsibility of the
prime debate shows which were aired live in the evening. I had to take
the prime shows live on Facebook and twitter according to the accurate
on airtime of the news debate, cut chunks and write content for it.
Additionally, I was also responsible for optimizing the company’s
social media accounts and pages in order to increase
engagement and reach. This included creating placards on
Photoshop software and illustrator which is on the companies’ social
media platform.
Also, I oversaw monitoring the channels’ Instagram presence and
analytics, as well as giving propositions for its growth. My
constant effort of posting stories and content on Instagram bought
more viewership to the page and also both engagement to the
channel’s news website.
Learnings
My writing skills along with software sills have enhanced, I learned new
techniques of video editing in Premiere Pro and editing tips on
Photoshop. Twitter has word limitations, so I had to make sure my
news covers all the 5 Ws and 1 H without exceeding the Twitter word
limit. I learnt how to write news short and crisp, yet eye catching.
Also, I learned a lot about growth and analytics of different social media
platforms to optimize it reach and followership.

Conclusion
The work experiences I encountered during the internship allowed me
to develop software skills and trained me to handle the social media. I
think I still need to work on my creative writing. However, the overall
experience was positive, further I want to work with Radio stations as i
want to explore that field at last I want to say everything I learned will
be useful in my future career in this field.
Internship Report – Tanya Chand

My internship was in The Quint in which my mentor was Santosh

Kumar sir who taught me a lot and also inspired me to move forward.
In this internship I worked on entertainment like writing articles and
producing it and doing research as well as editing reel and youtube
videos and a few I have also written sports articles but all these
articles have been edited by sir and sir found my mistakes then have
told me what I do.

In The Quint, I have published three articles in my name, in which I

have done research in two articles and in the third article I have given
some points and some I have added during research. Dhananjay sir
taught me how to work in CMS and also wrote my first article in The
Quint on which actress celebrated Yoga Day

between and probably every year the employees are also awarded
with prizes so that the employees get conscious. My journey in Quint
was very nice and fun, all the people there are very nice.
How could I get similar jobs in future too?

Company : Saketha Communication ( A partner PR firm)
My designation : Assisting Sabina Menon ( A partner of the firm )

As my choice of career has been clear since the start , I wanted to do

an internship in event ad PR , I choose to do this intership which was
an online WFH internship . Joining date was 16th June 2022 to 16th
August 2022 .

It started of great as the Sabina maam was very polite and also
shared her vision of the work in compay on call with me and then
finally when we started to work , she was planning on meeting a
client for the firm as it’s a startup, she asked me to make a
presentation . I was new and I made a lot of mistakes but was happy
learning from her, but still I made a presentation which was basically
about a firm and work , it was not that impressive but was good and
she sent me her ppt , from which I understood what was she
expecting from my ppt. Then suddenly she went off grid for days and
whenever I texted her or call her she didn’t responded , then
suddenly she called and asked me to make a landing page and design
a website which I have never done and I was struggling a lot . Even
she was not aware as to how to make one . First she said to make
one on [Link] but for such professional websites and firms
we need to buy a domain name and rights to design a website so I
informed her about it . she then said to do it on [Link] another
website making site and I tried to make it without have to buy a
domain which is basically just designing the landing page or home
page of the site but we cant publish it on our won domain unless we
buy it so after doing it, I asked her a lot of times about the
corrections but no response and then again suddenly one afternoon
she called and assigned me to make a letterhead and I made one ,
which she edited again saying I didn’t do it properly and I was ok
with it . As I was curious as to how PR happens for company I asked
her and gave her an idea of approaching companies and writing
mails. I wanted to do some work or be of some use, so I offered to do
the research but she said no and this is how my internship
completed. learned a lot about the outside world and reality of it.

After repeatedly asking for internship certificate , I haven’t received

one as she agreed to give me .

Due to
the short time period, I took this experience as an opportunity to provide my
team with the skills I learned in the last three years as a journalism student at
ASU.

Company - Dreamcatchers (Production House)

My Designation - Research and transcript
Staring Date - 20/06/2022
Ending Date - 20/06/2022

As my choice of career has been clear since the start, I wanted to do

an internship in Production House. This was referred to by prof. Sabiha
Farhat.

I worked in the research team for the show “It Happens only in India”
which is recently released on OTT platform Hotsatar and Television
channel NatGeo. This show is mainly based on the unique things which
only happen in India. And for this show i did research to make this show
successful.

This internship teaches me how to work in the industries. Along with

research I do transcripts also. Usually office timing was 9Am to 6Pm
but I was an intern and experiencing new things. That's why my timing
ended when my task was completed.

With the help of my senior colleagues I cope-up very easily. They help
and teach me a lot in my 2 month journey. They teached me how to
behave and make a space in the industry.

Thankyou

2
Roles and Responsibilities
I joined India Ahead Pvt Ltd. for my two months
summer internship (July 4th -September 4th ), during my
internship i got opportunity to work with Digital
department and Social Media department. In my first
week, i edited videos on premiere pro and posted those
videos on YouTube and Instagram. After one week i
shifted to the Social Media department and handled the
social media platforms of my company such as Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. In the social media
department, my work was to cut live news chunks from
Twitter Live (Twitter Live is connected to the channel's
live news broadcast), then write the news for that
chunk, my most crucial responsibility was to take the
debate show live on Facebook according to the accurate
on air time of the news debate. On some auspicious
days such as Guru Purnima, World Population Day, and
special birthdays, i created placards on Photoshop
software, which is on the companies’ social media
platform. When i have learned everything then i alone
handled the whole day's bulletin but my seniors always
crosschecked my work.

3
Learnings
My writing skills along with software sills have
enhanced, I learned new techniques of video editing in
Premiere Pro and Photoshop. Twitter has word
limitations, so i had to make sure my news covers all
the 5 Ws and 1 H without exceeding the Twitter word
limit, As I earlier mention on special days my work was
to create placards, i provided captions for all the
placards i made that are helped me to enrich my writing
skills.

4
Conclusion
The work experiences i encountered during the
internship allowed me to develop software skills and
trained me to handle the social media. I think i still need
to work on my creative writing. However, the overall
experience was positive, further i want to work with
Radio stations as i want to explore that field at last i
want to say everything i learned will be useful in my
future career in this field.

Internship report

I am Surbhi rajput , a student of Bachelor in journalism and mass communication (Hons)

2020-2024 batch of Apeejay Stya University which signed me the most obligatory task to
be a resource in Sparkle production [Link]. Limited from 27- June -2022 to 26- August
-2022 .
I considered myself lucky to have the opportunity to work for such a reputable firm, where I
acquired new skills such as how to create a script for documentaries, as well as knowledge
of new terms and procedures relating to film and documentaries.
I have explored extensively into these skills, which has boosted my knowledge and given me
more confidence. I had the chance to work on documentaries like AGNIVEER and ATAL
TUNNEL during this internship .

In the first two weeks, they explained to me the process they used to create their
documentaries up to that point, including their pattern, styles, methods of research, writing,
and editing.
Then I had the opportunity to work with the research team on the Agniveer documentary. I
conducted extensive research and discovered a lot of relevant textual information and video
clips that they used in their documentary. I began polishing my research and writing abilities
in the next month.
I then started editing the footage that had been given to me, which is my favourite part of the
process.
All of these characteristics help me to be completely realistic and professional in my
employment, where punctuality and discipline are quite important.

Overall, it was a nice experience that helped me overcome my flaws and gave me the chance
to work for a production house.
Thanks

My internship was in The Quint in which my mentor was Santosh Kumar sir who taught me a
lot and also inspired me to move forward. In this internship I worked on entertainment like
writing articles and producing it and doing research as well as editing reel and youtube

edited by sir and sir found my mistakes then have told me what I do.

In The Quint, I have published three articles in my name, in which I have done research
in two articles and in the third article I have given some points and some I have added
during research. Dhananjay sir taught me how to work in CMS and also wrote my first
