WORKSHEET – CIRCLES

DATE: 16/11/2023

1 In the figure below, all three sides of a

triangle touch the circle. Find the value of x.

[Ans: 14 cm]

3 From an external point P, tangents PA and PB are drawn to a circle with centre O. If CD is the
tangent to the circle at a point E and PA = 14cm, find the perimeter of PCD.
4 ABCD is a quadrilateral such that D = 90o. A circle C(O, r) touches the sides AB, BC, CD and DA
at P, Q, R and S respectively. If BC = 38 cm, CD = 25 cm and BP = 27 cm, find r. [ Ans: 14cm]
5 ABC is a right triangle in which B = 90°. A circle is inscribed in the triangle. If AB = 8 cm and BC
= 6 cm find the radius r of in circle.
6 In fig. two circles with centre A and B touch
each externally. PM = 15 cm is tangent to
circle with centre A and QN = 12 cm is
tangent to circle with centre B from external
point Q. if PA = 17 cm and BQ = 13cm. find
the distance between the centres A and B of
circles.
7 In figure, a triangle ABC is drawn to
circumscribe a circle of radius 3 cm, such
that the segments BD and DC are
respectively of lengths 6 cm and 9 cm. If the
area of  ABC is 54 cm2, then find the
lengths of sides AB and AC .
[AB = 9cm, AC = 12 cm]
8 In fig. AB is the diameter of a circle with
centre O and AT is a tangent. If AOQ= 58,
find ATQ

9 PQ is a chord of length 4.8 cm of a circle of

radius 3cm. The tangents at P and Q
intersect at a point T as shown in the figure.
Find the length of TP.

10 In two concentric circles, prove that the chord of larger circle which is tangent to smaller circle is
bisected at the point of contact.
11 Prove that the tangents at the extremities of any chord make equal angles with the chord.
12 In the figure QR is common tangent to given
circle which meet at T. tangent at T meets
QR at P. if QP = 3.8 cm, the length of QR is
(A)7.6 cm (B) 1.9 cm (C) 11.4 cm (D) 5.7 cm

13 PT is a tangent to a circle whose centre is O. IF PT = a units and radius is r units then, how far are
P from O?
14 In two concentric circles, prove that the chord of larger circle which is tangent to smaller circle is
bisected at the point of contact
15 In the given figure, PA and PB are two
tangents drawn to a circle with centre O and
radius r. if OP = 2r, show that APB is
equilateral.

16 The radii of two concentric circles are 13 cm

and 8 cm. AB is a diameter of the bigger
circle. BD is tangent to the smaller circle
touching it at D. Find the length of AD

17 In the given figure Q is the centre of the

circle. DetermineAQB and AMB, if PA
and PB are tangents and,  APB = 75

18. Two tangents BC and BD are drawn to a circle with centre O from a point B, such that 120 . 
CBD = prove that OB = 2BC.
