CYL Spec Static Running Snap

Static: A static compression test is used to check the engine, cylinders ability to seal. If you
have a low compression reading indicates loss of volume from the cylinder.

Running: A running compression test is used to verify Volumetric Efficiency (VE) or the engine's
ability to breathe. Running compression should be 50% of that of static compression. If running
compression is above 50% this indicates that the exhaust side might have a restriction, valve
closing too early, not opening enough or at all. If running compression is below 50% then this
indicates an intake restriction, valve not opening, or staying open.

Snap: A snap test result should be at least 80% of static compression. If the snap test result is
lawless than 80% this means the cylinder is having trouble allowing air in. This could be an
intake valve, worn intake lob. If snap test is higher ahtn than 80% the means the cylinder is
suffering from an exhaust side issue, exhaust valve not opening, valve timing, restricted
exhaust.
