All of these factors must be taken into consideration when selecting equipment for any given application.
Failure to follow all safety, installation, usage and maintenance instructions may result in serious
injury or death.
13. A rescue plan must be devised and be ready to be implemented prior to usage of the Kit.
14. This system requires a detailed periodic inspection at intervals no greater than three (3) months or in accordance
with local regulations.
15. Use only a full body harness designed, tested and approved for fall arrest when connecting a person to this
system.
16. Persons with muscular, skeletal and physical disorders should consult a physician before using Personal Fall
Protection equipment.
2) APPLICATION
The BTS TESLA Working at Heights Megapack Kit, is designed as a fall restraint system using restraint technique when
working on top of Megapacks. The ISO Lock Knuckle is designed to utilise the corner castings on the Megapack as the
installation point for the system.
There are restrictions and limitations that must be carefully considered in the selection, installation and operation of this
equipment.
Note: Serious injury or death may result from failure to consider factors outlined in the following sections.
2.1) Limitations
a. The system is only suitable for up to two users (Maximum weight including PPE and tools 136kg each) to be
attached at any one time. Check system specification for details.
b. The Megapack shall be inspected and deemed structurally sound by a competent person, capable of withstanding
25kN force applied to the ISO corner castings.
STEP 1. Harness
Step 1.1. Inspection before use
BASIC HARNESS INSPECTION
Before use inspection - User to check the following points.
• Date of manufacture: The harness cannot be older
than 10 years from date of manufacture. The reason
for this life limitation on a harness is because of UV
degradation of the webbing.
Inspect webbing for:
• Abrasion - scuff marks on webbing.
• Cuts - score marks or cuts in webbing.
• Heat - burn marks or shiny surfaces on webbing.
• Chemicals - grease, paint, acidic contact on webbing.
• Excessive stretching - Loose stitching.
• Check all buckles, adjusters and connection hardware
for cuts, nicks, corrosion, heat, Damage, bending,
warping, twisting or cracking.
• Examine all stitching areas to ensure that no stitching
has been cut, broken, heat or chemical damaged or
stretched.
If any of the above faults are present then the harness
should be returned to BTS for further inspection.
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
1. Hold the harness by the rear dorsal “D”
ring, ensure that all black quick release side
release buckles are loosened / or opened
and that there are no twisted straps.
2. If chest or leg straps are buckled, release
straps and unbuckle them at this time.
3. Slide arms through shoulder straps like you
would a shirt. Position straps over shoulder
so Dee ring is located in the middle of your
back between the shoulder blades.
4. Connect chest black quick release side
release buckle.
5. Adjust shoulder straps.
6. Pull harness down at the back so sub pelvic
strap sits under the buttocks.
7. Connect leg black quick release side release
buckle and adjust to a snug fit.
Step 1.3. Once the harness is fitted have a co-worker attach the
twin leg adjustable lanyard to the rear dorsal “D” ring on the rear
of the harness.
Step 1.4. Connect the two ends of the twin leg adjustable
lanyard to the front loops on the harness as shown below. Thus,
the lanyard does not present a trip hazard when moving.

5) TRAINING
All personnel using this equipment must receive appropriate training from their employer on all equipment involved prior
to operating. User must also read and fully understand this manual and any other instruction manual(s) relating to the
system being used.
Additionally, user must be properly trained in the use of any accessories that are to be used with the system, as well as
fall protection and any other procedures applicable to the work being performed; in compliance with local regulations.
6) INSPECTION
The system must be inspected by a competent person before each use and periodically on a three (3) month interval.
Any problems must be reported immediately to your supervisor and the system tagged “Out of Service” to prevent further
use until it has been repaired.
7.1) Lubrication
Apply general purpose lubricating grease or similar product to keep the moving parts of the yellow ratcheting
tensioner assembly working.
8. REPAIRS
Repairs must only be performed by BTS or an authorised representative.
9. TRANSPORTATION/ STORAGE
For transportation and storage, ensure the system is disassembled and stored in the storage bags provided with the kit
by BTS.
Product should be stored dry, away from weather elements.
