b. Profile
Dr. Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma (Mrs.) is a qualified language teacher / researcher with
considerable experience in indigenous language teaching and literacy acquisition among
early grade learners in multilingual situations. She is an enthusiastic pursuer of
opportunities for team membership, keen on lessons to learn out of all situations, an
individual with great ability for multitasking without losing focus of main issues and
desired goals. Gets along well with others at work and likes participating; is versatile,
enjoys identifying key tasks and most likely best implementers as well as users of

Prevention in conjunction with Mildmay International, an organization known for HIV / AIDS

13th – 17th August 2007; Disclosing to children living with or affected by HIV/ AIDS. This
training was organized by Mildmay Jajja’s Home Children’s Programme funded by Mildmay
International and Uganda Global Fund.

4. RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
a. Teaching experience
2010 1st April—To Date: Lecturer Kyambogo University (KYU), Kampala-Uganda, East
Africa, Modules; LL 315: Luganda and Gender, LL 212: Translation. KYU is in charge of
Teacher Education in Uganda. It has the mandate to oversee all the Primary Teachers’
Colleges (Certificate Awarded) and National Teachers’ College (Diploma Awarded) in the
country. It also trains teachers and other professionals at degree and graduate levels.
2010 15th July- 2013: Professional Tutor University of the Western Cape, Department of

which is under SOS Uganda; an independent, non–governmental social development
organization that has been working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of
children since 1949. SOS provides family based care for children without parents or at a risk
of losing the care of their parents.

b. Translation Experience
December 2009; Translated from English into Luganda a brochure for the Cross Cultural
Foundation of Uganda, a Non Governmental Organization with a vision of ‘Promoting the
recognition of culture as vital for human development’, the brochure was about pluralism.
July to September 2009; Translated (from English into Luganda) and edited (with other two
members) the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural
Heritage.
2008; Translated from English into Luganda a brochure; Citizens Action Project: Citizens
Action for Accountable WATSAN services in the slums of Kawempe -Kampala City-Uganda.
It was about water and sanitation services by Community Integrated Development Initiative
(CIDI) a Non-Government Organization in Uganda.

2007 ;Translated (with a UNESCO officer) from English into Luganda a brochure for
UNESCO on Revitalization of Bark cloth making in Uganda, a UNESCO /Japanese funds-in-
trust project for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage.
2005; Proposed and coordinated the translation of the Thematic Curriculum from English into
Luganda for The Uganda National Curriculum Development Centre-Uganda.
2001 and 2004; Translator and interpreter, candidature files of the Oral and Intangible
