ADMISSION INTO THE UNIVERSITY IN 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR.
Following your application for admission into the University, I am pleased to offer you a place at Jomo Kenyatta
University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) for a course leading to B.Sc.Marine Engineering in the
School Of Mechanical ,manufacturing And Material Engineering and College Of Engineering And
Technology at JKUAT Main Campus.
This offer is made on the basis of the statement of your qualifications as presented by the Kenya National
Examinations Council. It is subject to satisfactory verification of those qualifications by the University
authorities. In view of this, you should bring with you the original and copies of K.C.S.E. results slips,
National ID/Passport/Birth Certificate or other relevant certificates during the reporting day. In addition,
you are required to submit your SHIF/NHIF Card and or Insurance cover policy number on the same day
for your medical cover.
Due to the VERY limited accommodation within the university halls of residence, you are expected to make
arrangements for your own private accommodation.Those who will manage to acquire a room will be required to
bring with them a three (3) by six (6) foot matress, six (6) inch thickness and blue in colour. Please do not pay
for University accommodation until you have been allocated a room. Booking is done via the link (
hostel.jkuat.ac.ke), the dates will be communicated at a later date. Those wishing to be assisted in procuring
private accommodation should visit the same link. For more information consult the office of the Dean of
Students. The University is surrounded by very good private accommodation facilities.

registration day.
This offer is also subject to your acceptance to adhere to University Rules and Regulations W1-2-3-18-1 that
govern the Conduct and Discipline of students at the University. This must be thoroughly read, comprehended,
signed and kept for future reference. The regulations can also be downloaded from J.K.U.A.T website (
www.jkuat.ac.ke).
We would like to let you know that there is provision for loan and scholarship to fund your university
education depending on your level of need. Should you require funding, apply for the loan and
scholarship from www.hef.co.ke. When your level of need has been determined, the university will
communicate the amount to be paid by your household. This information will be communicated to you on
or before 31st July, 2024.
JKUAT has integrated ICT in all its courses. Some of the courses will be taught and examined on-line. You will
therefore need a Laptop to facilitate on-line learning and examination. The University has put in place provisions
for interested students to acquire high end TAIFA laptops which are pre-loaded with Windows 10; a genuine
operating system and JKUAT online courses. The laptops are affordable at a price of KSh. 58,500.00. Details of
the laptop specifications and payment terms are available at JKUAT Industrial Park.
Meanwhile, I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your excellent performance and subsequent admission
to JKUAT. Once again I look forward to welcoming you to the University on 2nd September 2024 when you
are supposed to report and commence orientation.
As you report, kindly remember that there is no zero risk when you are in an environment like this. You are
