What are we considering in today’s Modelling?

- Plane Strain condition of soil and tunnel (2D) – Hence no 3D stress transfer (please refer
‘why 3D?’ in previous session)
- Mohr Coulomb Material Model – Should be decided only after proper calibration
- Concrete lining of 1m width
- Self weight and surface loads from the buildings – Hence no stiffness consideration from
super structure
- Construction stage analysis

What are we looking in Results?

- Soil – Tunnel Deformation Behavior
- Convergence in the tunnel
𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠
- Safety factor around the tunnel (Safety Factor = )
𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑎𝑡 𝑓𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑢𝑟𝑒

- Plastic Status of Soil

- Structural behavior of lining
- Axial Force
- Bending Moment
- Shear Force
- Capacity Curves
