Cove Technical Product Manager (within Venture Studio)

OVERVIEW: The D. E. Shaw group seeks a highly motivated and entrepreneurial technical product
manager to join its newly formed private equity venture, Cove. The product manager will work on
leading product development for Cove’s internal technology platform and tools, with an emphasis on
building a suite of AI-driven applications that support various investment and non-investment
workstreams. This role oJers a collegial working environment and the chance to collaborate with a

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: You’ll be involved in all aspects of building new products for the fund’s
staJ to use in its investment activities. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—including
developers and business stakeholders—to ensure the seamless execution of technology initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include defining product specs and roadmaps, managing project timelines,
coordinating and occasionally executing technical implementations, and driving the integration of
innovative tools that enhance investment workflows.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


• A bachelor’s degree or higher, an impressive record of academic and professional achievement, and
two to five years of experience are required.
• Candidates should have at least two years of experience in developing technology products
alongside development teams and at least one year of experience in building workflow products that
support business activities and processes.
• Experience in successfully taking a product from conception to completion, ideally in a startup
environment, is required.
• Experience in reading and executing code, along with the ability to understand and oversee the
technical aspects of product development, is essential. Direct developer experience is not required.
• At least some experience with leveraging LLMs to build features, tools, or products is required
(personal experience is fine; it doesn't need to be for work or academic research).
• We seek candidates who have well-developed communication skills, a collaborative and
entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once.
• Some experience in, or knowledge of, financial transactions and financial markets is a plus.

The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $175,000. Our compensation and
benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the
first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution
matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
Senior Product Manager – Investment Operations Technology

OVERVIEW: The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Financial Operations Technology
team and assist with the development and implementation of systems and processes. This team
manages the technology that streamlines the finance and operational support functions, primarily
focused on asset servicing and trade account operations, as well as tax, treasury, and compliance
processes. The role oJers the opportunity to be part of an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging working
environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: You’ll work closely with business users, software developers, and
quality engineers to conceptualize and develop solutions that improve our security master, trade
booking, accounting, treasury, tax, compliance, and management reporting processes. You’ll be
responsible for understanding business needs, specifying technical requirements, prioritizing product
roadmaps, and supporting existing applications. You’ll have ample opportunities to partner closely
with global leaders on our information technology and Finance and Operations teams.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


• A bachelor's degree or higher, along with at least seven years of relevant work experience, is
required.
• Experience with investment management is a significant plus.
• A willingness to take initiative and dive into details is critical, as is the ability to manage projects to
completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-
technical systems users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise a high level of
discretion with confidential information are also essential.
• Applicants with a knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to
impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking) will excel in this role.

• The expected annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $225,000. Our compensation and
benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the
