!/ You have a bright future ahead of you! /
You will go places/and success /shall be synonymous to your name!
You /shall touch lives/ and you /shall make a tremendous difference in
the world!/////
I remember vividly,/ when I was young/, during family gatherings/,
relatives would always ask/--- what do you want to be in the future?/
At that time/, I wanted to be both/ a certified Public Accountant and a
Tourism Officer/ but/ as I was growing older/ I found myself veering
/towards the goal /of becoming///// a model///// I want to become
Tourism Officer.
We all have dreams we want to pursue/. We all have goals we
want to achieve/ and believe me/, we will achieve them all./ Now,/ you
may be asking yourselves,/ how can I be so sure that you have a bright
future /or/ that you will be successful/ or/ that you will make a
difference in the world---the answer is simple ----- you /are a
conscientious /and useful citizen of this country!///
The day our parents enrolled us/ in our respective formative
schools/ was the day/ they gave us security for our future./ It is sad /
knowing that/ not everybody could afford/ to send their children to
school,/ put food on the table /or/ provide shelter for the family////.
How wonderful it would be/ if all of us/ had the same opportunities in
life./ Sadly,/ sometimes/ we forget how blessed we are /and
oftentimes /take for granted the blessings that come our way./ What
may be insignificant to us /could be something great for others/. Look
at us! We are very fortunate to be where we are right now.
Where else /can you find a school/ that is responsive to the clamor of
peoples’ needs? / Where the core values revolve around/ God-
centeredness, /concern for others/, discipline/ and last /but definitely not
the least, /academic excellence.// It is only in this institution! We/ who are
here/ have a bright future ahead of us./
Someday,/ when you have achieved what you have aimed for/ do not
turn your back on the people who ask for your help/, guidance/or
attention./ Remember when the pandemic happened?// Who would have
thought/ that we would be a part of that nightmare./ I never thought/ that I
would experience anxiety,/ fear /and uncertainty during those dark times.//
I never thought that that would happen in my lifetime. /
It is not over yet/ but/ because we are resilient,/ little by little/, step
by step/ we move on/ and this time/ we are back on our feet /as strong,
brave/ and selfless human beings /because now we know how it is to be
alone, /scared /and anxious./ Now/ we know that life/ is not just about us /
but others as well./
A perfect example would be /the genuinely concerned people of our
community./ Doctors who treat patients without asking for payment.
//Lawyers who defend clients,/ PRO BONO./ Private citizens turned
philanthropists who donate so much to those in need/
We were brought up differently/ BUT WE ALL ..HAVE THE
SAME ..PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS. / We feed the same hunger,/ we quench
the same thirst/, we breathe the same air/. DO NOT TURN A BLIND EYE AT
THE SIGHT OF POVERTY./ Do not turn a deaf ear to the cries of
desperation./ Do not be silent /when you see that injustice has prevailed
over the innocent---remember this---we are empathetic persons---we have
a voice---and we shall be heard!
You and I /can make a difference in the world./ In these times/ where
the future is almost uncertain/, there should be no room for mediocrity,/
no time for complacency /and no place for apathy/. Our parents have
equipped us with the knowledge we need for our future, / instilled
discipline /that we may be able to deal with the challenges/ that may come
our way/, strengthened our faith/ that forges our trust in the Lord,/ and
inculcated in us the love for our fellowmen/ that we may live with others in
harmony./
Let us make it our mission /of being of service to others./ Let us
continue/ what the others have so painstakingly started/. Let their
sacrifices /be/ our inspiration./ Let us strengthen communities /through
values/ and /education.
