Narrative Report on Review Innovation Seminar at the University of
Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Panganiban
Drive, Cagayan de Oro City
Introduction:
I had the privilege to participate in the Review Innovation Seminar on
November 9, 2024, at the University of Science and Technology of Southern
Philippines (USTP), which is located on Panganiban Drive in Cagayan de Oro
City. Seismic details and board test ace techniques were the two main topics
of the presentation. The seminar provided in depth discussions on the
significance of appropriate seismic details in structural engineering and how to
successfully prepare for the challenges of the board exam, which was
especially helpful to me as a student getting ready for the impending
professional exams. While seasoned professionals offered advice and tactics
on exam preparation, emphasizing crucial study methods, time management,
and the significance of seismic safety in construction, subject-matter experts
offered practical insights into the most recent methodologies.
Background Information:
By emphasizing two main topics the complexities of seismic detailing, a
crucial component of earthquake-resistant structural design, and methods for
passing the board exam—the Review Innovation Seminar sought to prepare
prospective civil engineers for the Licensure Examination for Civil Engineers.
The seminar was a component of USTP's continuous effort to give its
engineering students especially those who were almost done with their
degrees more chances for education and growth.
The event, which took held at the USTP Panganiban Drive campus and lasted
from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with more than 120
attendees from various universities in the Mindanao region.
Description of Events/Activities
9:00 AM: The seminar began with opening remarks by Engr. Ariel P. Santos,
the Co-Founder of the RI Review Center. He introduced seismic detailing of
special Moments Frames. He discussed all about the history of the
earthquake 120 years ago. He gave us a very clear and good detailing on
earthquake load based on NSCP 2015. Engr. Santos encourage us to choose
the right review center by choosing RI review center. He give us the proof why
RI is the right choice. He end his presentation for almost 2 hours.
11:00 AM: Engr. Angel Nucup Alvarez Jr. who graduated as Cum Laude
and Gold Medalist in 2011 and placed 5th in the Civil Engineering Board
Exam in 2012. Shared some valuable insights on how to excel in the Civil
Engineering Board Exam based on his own experiences as a top-performing
student and board exam passer. Here are some of the key strategies and
discipline he emphasized mastering the basic, time management, practice
practice practice solving, knowing the best time to study that you are
comfortable, and choose the right review center. He introduced us to the
Board exam examiners. How many percent each subject and how many items
each. He also encourage us to choose RI as review center.
2:00 - 5:00 PM: The seminar and then the written exam are at the same time
in the morning. So in the afternoon there will be a quiz bowl where whoever
has the highest score in the written exam will be able to play in the quiz bowl.
Top 8 groups were obtained and this is the one that will fight against to win.
When the quizzers cannot answer the question, the audience will be given a
chance to answer and get a prize from RI. This happened in the afternoon

For aspiring civil engineers, attending the USTP Review Innovation Seminar
provides helpful knowledge on seismic details and successful board test
preparation techniques. The crucial role that structural resilience plays in

through presentation, which made use of NSCP 2015 standards, made many
seismic load design ideas more understandable and emphasized the
significance of high-quality detailing for structural safety.
Angel Nucup Alvarez Jr. offered helpful tips on how to ace the Civil
Engineering Board Exam. As a student getting ready for the licensing exam,
his emphasis on time management, grasping fundamental concepts, and
following structured study habits really spoke to me.
Conclusion
My understanding of seismic details and my systematic method to board test
preparation both increased as a result of my participation in the USTP Review
Innovation Seminar. The details of that Engineer. Stability structural design is
essential in earthquake-prone areas like the Philippines, according to Ariel P.
