Missions is the work of the church to spread the message of Jesus Christ and make

disciples of all nations. The significance of missions to the church today is multifaceted:

1. _Fulfilling the Great Commission_: Jesus commanded His followers to "go and make
disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20). Missions is a direct response to this
command.

2. _Spreading the Gospel_: Missions involves sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with
those who have not heard it, providing an opportunity for people to respond to the Gospel
and receive salvation.

3. _Demonstrating God's love_: Missions is a tangible expression of God's love for

humanity. By serving and caring for others, missionaries demonstrate the love of Christ in
practical ways.

4. _Building the church_: Missions involves planting churches, training leaders, and
strengthening existing churches. This helps to establish a vibrant, global church that can
continue to spread the Gospel.

5. _Addressing spiritual and physical needs_: Missions often involves addressing both
spiritual and physical needs, such as providing food, shelter, medical care, and education,
in addition to sharing the Gospel.

6. _Promoting cultural understanding and exchange_: Missions provides opportunities for

people from different cultures to learn from and understand each other better, promoting
global understanding and unity.

7. _Encouraging personal growth and discipleship_: Participating in missions can be a

transformative experience for individuals, helping them grow in their faith, develop new
skills, and become more effective disciples of Jesus Christ.

In summary, missions is essential to the church today because it:

- Fulfill's Christ's Great Commission

- Spreads the Gospel to unreached people

- Demonstrates God's love in practical ways

- Builds and strengthens the global church

- Addresses spiritual and physical needs

- Promotes cultural understanding and exchange

- Encourages personal growth and discipleship

By engaging in missions, the church can make a meaningful impact on the world and fulfill
its divine purpose.
