Abstract:

Continuous improvement of business processes is a challenging task that requires complex and
robust supporting systems. Using advanced analytics methods and emerging technologies--such as
business intelligence systems, business activity monitoring, predictive analytics, behavioral pattern
recognition, and "type simulations"--can help business users continuously improve their processes.
However, the high volumes of event data produced by the execution of processes during the
business lifetime prevent business users from efficiently accessing timely analytics data. This article
presents a technological solution using a big data approach to provide business analysts with
visibility on distributed process and business performance. The proposed architecture lets users
analyze business performance in highly distributed environments with a short time response. This
article is part of a special issue on leveraging big data and business analytics.

Abstract

Knowledge of patents relevant to business analytics (business analytics) is very important for
entrepreneurs and companies in

developing environmentally friendly business and innovation strategies. This study aims to find out
the patent landscape and the

main trends in patent intellectual property on the topic of business analytics around the world by
using bibliometric analysis.

Researchers applied an analysis of the patent landscape using data on 4,731 patent intellectual
property documents from the Lens

database. The results of the study show that every year in general there is an increasing trend in the
number of patents related to

the field of business analytics. Patents related to business analytics are dominated by the physics (G)
and electricity (H) patent

sections. There is an entrepreneurial opportunity without paying royalties by using 234 patent
discontinues related to business
analytics. Intellectual property patents related to business analytics are dominated by company
ownership and inventors from the

United States. There are 2,143 simple family patent business analytics in 12 jurisdictions of countries
or regions and the highest is

the United States.

Business analytics capabilities in digitally-enabled and non digitally-enabled companies in an

emerging economy Natan Oliveira Costa1, Selma Oliveira2*, Evaldo Rodrigues3 1,2Fluminense
Federal University, Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil 3University of Brasilia, Campus Darcy
Ribeiro, Brasília, Brasil *Corresponding Abstract The excess of data has led industries to develop their
capabilities to exploit the value of data and gain competitive advantage. In this context, business
analysis has become substantive for this purpose in several domains. Surprisingly, business analytics
has been at the top of the corporate agenda. While the potential benefits of business analytics are
widely highlighted in cutting-edge literature, little is known about the prominence of analytics
capabilities for business resilience during and after the COVID 19 pandemic (new normal) in
emerging markets. This study examines the relevance of business analytics capabilities to the
resilience and economic performance of digitally-enabled and non-digitally enabled companies in an
emerging economy. Using a questionnaire, primary data was collected from digitally enabled national
and multinational companies in the Brazilian context. The results of this study suggest that analytical
capabilities are substantive to the resilience of digitally enabled multinational companies, with an
emphasis on tangible, human and operational capabilities. This study fills a gap in the literature and
makes significant contributions: (i) it highlights the protagonism of business analytical capabilities in
digitally enabled multinational companies, during and after the COVID 19 pandemic in an emerging
economy; (ii) serves as a guide for managers when choosing capabilities; (iii) sheds light on non-
digitally enabled national companies to achieve resilience in their businesses in times of crises such
as the COVID 19 pandemic; and (iv) expands the literature on business analytical capabilities..

modeling Digital technologies and related capabilities, such as business analytics capabilities (BAC),
are transforming firms and management control (MC). While the development of BAC and its
underlying dimensions is currently a top priority for many MC departments, it remains unclear from
the existing literature how they can benefit from these capabilities in terms of controllership
effectiveness. Against this background, our study examines the re lationships between three core
BAC dimensions (tangible BA resources, intangible BA resources, and human skills for BA) and
controllership effectiveness (in terms of controllership output quality and controllership impact on
management decisions), with a particular focus on the mediating effects of the business partner role
of the MC department. To do so, we adopt the resource-based view and use partial least squares
structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze survey data from 322 large German firms. The
results of our study show that all of the examined relationships are positively mediated by the
business partner role, while those between tangible BA resources and both elements of
controllership effectiveness, as well as that between human skills for BA and controllership impact on
management decisions are even fully mediated by this role. Thus, our results highlight the
importance of the business partner role in enabling MC departments to benefit from the
development of the BAC dimensions in terms of improved controllership effectiveness. Furthermore,
through a series of post hoc analyses, we provide empirical support for our three-dimensional
conceptualization of BAC, and for the importance of the business partner role relative to the still
dominant scorekeeper role. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
Determinants of the adoption of big data analytics in business consulting service: a survey of

the factors affecting the adoption of big data analytics (BDA) by business consulting firms. With the
aid of a structured questionnaire, survey data was obtained from one hundred and eighteen (118)
business and management consultants working in multinational and indigenous consulting firms in
Nigeria. Discriminant analysis and multinomial logistic regres sion were applied to assess the
determinants of BDA adoption, while structural equation model ling (path analysis) was used to
assess the complexity of the interrelationship among the determinants. Robustness check using least
square regression, correlation, covariance (Cov) and sum of squares and cross-products (SSCPs)
analysis confirms that results are valid. Whilst the desire to enhance competitive position will cause
incremental improvement in BDA adoption, consulting firms are likely to intensify BDA usage because
of the need to increase market share. The determinants of BDA adoption are interrelated, implying
that the advantages of BDA are systemic and could yield synergistic benefits

data driven decision-making procedures over traditional intuitional approaches, this was termed as

Abstract

This abstract highlights the role of business analytics in enhancing MSMEs' efficiency, profitability,
and competitiveness. By adopting data-driven decision-making, MSMEs can optimize processes,
adapt to challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, and improve resilience. Tools like MyMSME and the
MSME DataBank provide real-time data and streamline access to schemes, while the DATC Wing
supports evidence-based decisions and digital payments. Additionally, patent analysis helps MSMEs
innovate. However, risks like data theft and misuse must be carefully managed[16†source][2019:
