Respected judges, dear audience ad worthy opponents, Good morning to one and all. I
am here to put forward my views against the topic. Technology makes people more isolated
for your due consideration.

“The value of network increases with the square of the numbers of users”, this is
Metcalfe’s law propounded by George Gilder, a journalist by profession. Truly technology is
flourishing by leaps and bounds and has become an indispensable part of our lives,
revolutionising the way we communicate and interact with one another and has charged our
entire perspective.

I would like to prove my point by means of some instances. When the devastating
earthquake shook Turkey Syria and killed more than 50,000 peoples, injuries up to 100,000,
Technology helped in connecting people struck under debris with the rescuers above resulting
in rescue aid reaching them on time.

Why go so far to the Middle East? Come to the home ground. Examine the role
played by technology during COVID-19 pandemic. It has connected people despite physical
distances. Whether be it through virtual family gatherings, remote work meetings or online
celebration, technology has succeeded in bridging the gap during times of isolation.

If we talk about medical field, technology become a means for bringing families
together take for example advancement in bearing and technology has provided opportunity
for hearing impaired individuals to connect with their family and friends to feel safe and
confident and has helped to utilize their full potential. In similarly, other areas too have seen
equivalent growth impacting lives in a positive way.

When it comes to education just imagine me sitting in my school computer room and
want to know more about Antarctica. I can do so by following expedition team of scientists,
read scientists blogs, view photos, write e-mails and even connect with them through live
chat session.

Even the traditional classrooms where the role of the teacher is viewed as the ‘sage on
the stage’ has shifted to ‘guide on the side’ where teachers are able to connect with the
students located in remote areas of the world and the distance gets diminished by just a click.
Why look here and there? Look at your phones. How many applications are there
which you use to communicate with your loved ones? Every phone will have atleast
Facebook or whatsapp. Do you know how many active users are there on facebook-3.07
billion, whatsapp has 2.04 billion, twitter has 950 million according to a report published by
Global Social Media Statistics. This shows that technology instead of isolating individuals
has in fact helped connecting them.

There is a theory of rise degrees of separation which says that we all are separated
from everybody else by rise people. That is the power of technology. It was considered as a
impossible feat of finding ones long lost classmate by my grandfather’s period of time but it
is truly possible by my mom and dad. It is because of the advancement in technology.

By technology, geographical boundaries have been faded bought people together,

saved lives brought smiles on the faces. What more do we need to prove that technologies
doesn’t isolate but makes lives easy and bring people closer. If we are drifting away from our
relations, then it is purely over fault not the fault of technology. At the end, I would like to
conclude by saying “let’s not blame the shoes, for the fault of our feet”.

Hope I have touched your conviction thank you and have a nice day.
