Step 1
We’ll walk you through the steps on how to
create an Instagram Reel using the Instagram
Stories camera menu.

To access it, simply open the Instagram Stories
camera and find the Reels icon positioned either

between the default Normal mode and Create
mode or on the bottom menu next to “Story”.

Step 2
Use tools to prepare for your recording. Tap Audio (1) to select audio from the Instagram
music library and add it to your video. You can even choose to add your favorite part only.

Tap Speed (2) to change the speed of your video, tap Effects (3) to apply special

Step 3
When you’re ready, tap, and hold the record button to record a clip. If you set a timer
early on, there’s a countdown before the hands-free recording starts.

During the recording, you can tap the record button to end a clip, and then tap it again
to start a new clip. Then, the Align button (5) will appear, allowing you to line up objects
from the previous clip before recording your next. This is useful to create seamless
transitions for moments like changing outfits, adding new music, or adding new friends
into your Reel.

If you want to watch, trim, or delete

Once you’re done with recording, you can add stickers, drawings, and text to edit
your Reel.

creating a video with a voiceover or
dialogue, be sure to add closed
captions to your videos.

Point to consider while adding texts
Always start with text as a title for your video or caption
Add in text just like you would in Stories
Can change the colour

Move the text on the screen - but look for those blue lines so it doesn't get
cut off (see next video). This is because when you share an Instagram Reel
to the feed, Instagram crops it to 4:5 dimensions. To avoid important text

When finished, you can edit the cover photo with a video thumbnail or add a
cover from your camera roll. If you’d like to keep your Instagram aesthetic in
place, opt for uploading an on-brand image from your camera roll.

Step 6
Once you’re satisfied with
your clip, you can tap the
Next button (7) to access
the Share page. Then, tap

camera roll. You can write a
caption, too.

Share the clip to the Reels tab only. Your Instagram audience will be able
