From a young age, I was captivated by the complexity of the human body and the profound
impact that healthcare professionals can have on individuals’ lives.
I recall a pivotal moment during my childhood when both my grandfathers fell gravely ill and
were diagnosed with cancer. The empathy and skill with which the attending doctors and nurses
tried to treat the illness and their sheer empathy displayed left a lasting impression on me. I
witnessed how medicine extends beyond clinical knowledge; it involves understanding and
compassion. I consider medicine to be the most noble of professions. It is the cornerstone of
any well-functioning society and being part of the development of this crucial profession would
be my dream.
Through my observership at Aster CMI Hospital and internships at Dr. Naveena’s Skin Care
Clinic, and Gautham Orthopedic Hospital, I observed procedures like the upcoming robotic and
laparoscopic surgeries, knee and hip replacements, skin biopsies, and ICU care. These
hands-on experiences taught me the importance of patient follow-up and the value of empathy
in healing. Witnessing the precision of surgery ignited an even deeper passion within me to
become a surgeon. Outside the academic aspect, I dedicated my time to raising ₹1.2 Lakhs for
a government school, to provide benches and paint the school to tackle and Sustainable
development goal. Volunteering and working for 33 hours to build a playground for a local
school taught me the value of teamwork and dedication in creating a positive impact. It
reinforced my belief in the importance of giving back to the community and shaped my
understanding of how compassionate actions can enhance well-being beyond clinical care.
WHY THE UNIVERSITY
In conclusion, my experiences have fueled my determination to pursue a career in medicine. I
aspire to be a healthcare professional who not only treats illnesses but also provides holistic
care to patients, understanding their physical, emotional and psychological needs. I am eager to
continue my journey at (uni name), where I can develop the skills and knowledge necessary to
achieve my goals and make a positive impact on the lives of others.
