Introduction

Pepper spray infused with an alarm is a personal safety tool that combines the power of pepper
spray with a loud, attention-grabbing sound. This dual-action device can be very useful in the
municipality of Minglanilla to improve public safety. They offer an easy way for people to
protect themselves from uncertainties. By carrying a pepper spray alarm, residents can quickly
deter attackers and call for help.

This research on pepper spray infused with an alarm aims to assess how well this device can
improve personal safety by deterring attackers and drawing attention to emergencies. This study
is crucial in places like Minglanilla, where news article covers incidents of rape and robbery have
been reported in the town. Raising concerns about community safety is highly advertise by the
government of Minglanilla. Through this research we can provide safety, reduce fear and give
people more confidence when they are out. Overall, it can contribute to a safer community for
everyone.

Research Design

The research design used a quantitative approach, where data was collected through
surveys distributed to a large group of college students who had tested the pepper
spray with an alarm. The surveys included questions with scaled responses to
measure the device's effectiveness, ease of use, and perceived safety. The data was
analyzed statistically to identify trends and assess the overall performance of the
device.

Research Environment

The study was conducted among St. Cecilia’s College students. The campus was
located in Poblacion Ward 2, Minglanilla, Cebu. The town was situated close to
schools, with quiet neighborhoods and busy streets. This setting helped evaluate how
effective the pepper spray with an alarm was in real-life situations faced by residents.
The research also considered the local crime reports to ensure the device met the
safety needs of the community.

Research Respondents
The researcher’s study was conducted in Minglanilla, Cebu. The research
respondents were the college students of St. Cecilia’s College, Cebu. They were
chosen to answer the survey about the pepper spray alarm since most of the
students had night schedules and might have had safety concerns during the night.
Their feedback helped determine the device's effectiveness and ease of use for
young adults in the area.

Research Instrument

The study used a questionnaire to survey the college students of St. Cecilia’s College,
Minglanilla, Cebu. The questionnaire was developed based on the study’s objectives.
It consisted of twenty-one (21) items. The first part of the questionnaire consisted of
six (6) questions about the product, the pepper spray alarm. The second part
consisted of five (5) questions about the place. The third part also consisted of five
(5) questions about the price. The fourth part of the questionnaire consisted of five
(5) questions about promotions. The respondents answered these questions with Yes
or No.

The study placed a high priority on obtaining information about the product offered
to customers, exploring how consumers viewed the product's flavor, quality, and
brand loyalty. It also aimed to understand how each customer perceived the pricing
and their willingness to pay, determining the product's ideal price point while
considering competitive pricing and perceived value. Additionally, the study
examined the location of the business, assessing the product's ease of use and
accessibility for the target market. Lastly, it focused on understanding the
effectiveness of promotional tactics and how they influenced consumer behavior,
aiming to identify the best distribution channels to reach the intended market and
generate interest in the product.

In order to gather accurate data, the researcher looked for questionnaire that is related
to the study. The questionnaires that the researchers looked were modified by the
researcher’s instructor Mr. Earl Jude Tano.

Data Gathering Procedure


A letter of request to conduct the study had been prepared. The researcher
constructed a questionnaire checklist, which was validated by the instructor of the
subject. The researcher distributed the survey questionnaire to selected college
students at St. Cecilia’s College, Minglanilla, Cebu. The researcher explained to the
respondents the importance of their responses to the study and requested them to
answer with complete honesty. After the respondents answered the questionnaire,
the researcher collected and tallied the data for interpretation. Based on the data,
the researcher came up with conclusions for the study.

Treatment of Data

The data that was gathered used percentage and frequency distribution.
Percentage - presented the figure derived by dividing one quantity by another, then
multiplying by 100. The percentage was a great help in the study because the
research mainly focused on comparing percentages to determine the difference
compared with an initial value.
