Lost Echoes

Summary
This Fic is based on a dream I had.
So I had a HTTYD dream last night. I thought I’d turn it into a fic . It started off with like a
movie flashback of younger me finding a night fury egg and saving it and hiding it from the
one Villian that killed all the night furyies. Then the egg hatched and there were “scenes”
where me and the baby night fury grew up together. She was a girl night fury and I named her
Echo. Then it’s in the present time of the dream where I end up meeting Hiccup and his
friends with Echo and Toothless and Echo start to like each other. So I talk to them and tell
them my story. I’m pretty sure this is before the second Movie i don’t really know. Then
Hiccup says that he thought toothless was the last night fury. So then I say how I thought
Echo was the only dragon. Then Fishlegs says that the Night furies won’t be extinct anymore
because Echo and toothless seem to like each other.

*flashback*
A young Freya stumbled into a cave. She could still hear the screams of the Vikings from her
village on this remote island. They were being attacked once again for their strange way of
life. And this time her family was losing. At only 9 years old, she was scared. Her parents
had told her to run. Now she had found herself in this hidden cave. Her wife blue eyes
focused on something she could see deeper into the cave. She gasped softly. It was a dragon
egg! More specifically, it was a Night Fury egg. This was what the raiders had been after. The
night furies. Freya was just a child but she knew she had to protect this egg. The mother was
nowhere to be find. Freya pushed the wave of sadness aside as she ran to the egg. She picked
it up and held the egg close to her, she had to protect this baby at all costs. She retreated
further into the cave to hide. She could smell the smoke from her as she hid behind a large
rock. She squeezed her eyes shut as she knew that this was the end of her friends and her
family. Her home. And their way of life would be gone forever. She could still hear the dying
screams of the village folk. And the bone chilling shrieks of the dying Night furies.

It had been two days. The sounds were gone. The island was barely smoldering. And the
raiders had not found her or the night fury egg. Freya tried not to think of what would happen
now. The eggs mother never came back so that could only mean one thing. Freya finally
opened her eyes to the round of the egg cracking. She gasped softly and looked down at the
egg in her la as a baby Night fury burst from the shell. The hatchling looked around the cave
then looked up at Freya with a tilt of her head. She let out a small grumbled before nuzzling
her.
“Don’t worry! I’ll protect you.” She said to the young Night fury. The dragon tilted her head
and tried to copy her speech pattern. She grumbled on the same tone that Freya spoke in.
Freya giggled. It was almost as if the dragon had echoed her.
“I think I’ll call you Echo!”
