Was there any cheatingduring the Tejeros Convention, and what were the main
factors that led to the conflict between the Magdiwang and Magdalo factions?
• Allegations of cheating during the Tejeros Convention were made, but no actual
violence or fraud occurred.
• Andres Bonifacio, the presiding officer, read the ballots, making cheating
unlikely.
• Emilio Aguinaldo was not present to manipulate the election results.
• Instead, the Magdalo faction used a strategy of nominating only one candidate
per position.
• In contrast, the Magdiwang faction split their votes between two candidates,
weakening their position.
• Daniel Tirona insulted Andres Bonifacio by questioning his qualifications as
Director of the Interior, simply because he was not a lawyer.
• Andres Bonifacio felt disrespected, leading him to declare the election’s
results null and void and to draw his gun at Daniel Tirona.
• However, this tension was due to personal conflict rather than election fraud.
• Aguinaldo’s absence also worked in his favor, as he was seen as defending
Cavite, gaining respect from undecided voters.
• In conclusion, it was Magdalo’s strategy, not cheating, that led to their victory.
