ENTERING A MATRIX INTO THE CALCULATOR
Steps to enter matrix data:
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Right arrow to EDIT
• Press ENTER to select matrix 𝐴
• Type in the dimensions of your matrix.
• REMEMBER: rows x columns
• Press ENTER between each number.
• Enter data – press ENTER between each element
(cursor will move to the next row)
Repeat the process to enter matrices B and C
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Right arrow to EDIT
• Press 2 to select matrix 𝐵 and 3 to select
matrix 𝐶
• Type in dimensions and enter data as you did
matrix 𝐴

OPERATIONS WITH MATRICES
Steps to add and subtract matrices:
• Go to home screen
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Arrow down and press ENTER to select matrix 𝐵 .
Press the + sign. Do the same to enter matrix 𝐶 .
• Press ENTER to display the matrix sum
• Repeat the process to subtract matrices
Steps to multiply a matrix by a scalar:
• Go to home screen. Type your scalar (-2 in
example)
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Choose the matrix under “Names” (matrix A in
example)
• Press ENTER to display answer
Steps to multiply matrices:
• Go to home screen.
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Choose the matrix under “Names” (matrix B in
example).
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Choose the matrix under “Names” (matrix A in
example).
• Press ENTER to display answer

DETERMINANTS AND INVERSE MATRICES
Steps to calculate the determinant of a matrix:
• Go to home screen
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Arrow right to MATH and scroll down to “det” and
press ENTER.
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Scroll down to select matrix 𝐵 and press ENTER.
• Press ENTER to display answer
Steps to find the inverse of a matrix:
• Go to home screen.
• Press 2nd MATRIX
• Scroll down to select matrix 𝐶 and press ENTER.
• Press the x-1 button (do not press 2nd button
first) so that 𝐶 -1 displays
• Press ENTER to display answer
• Check your answer by multiplying matrix C times it’s
inverse – your answer should be the multiplicative
identity matrix.
