VIII . Case Study based questions (4×2=8M)
[Link] 1:Divyank and Amar are working on a project report on 'Occupational Hazards'. They went to
cotton and wool spinning mills and mulberry farm of their research. They observed that due to improper
working environment and lack of safety measures there were many health hazards faced by the workers in
their routine activities like respiratory disease, skin infections. etc. They discussed the problems faced by the
workers with their teacher. Their teacher decided to write the letter to the concerned authority to highlight
the seriousness of the issue and to take proper steps/action in this regard.

[Link] 2: Carnivorous plant is especially adapted for capturing and digesting insects and other animals by
means of ingenious pitfalls and traps. There are more than 600 known species of carnivorous plants. The
apparent trapping mechanism, which is always a modified leaf is a distinctive feature to these plants. The
pitcher plant is an example of a carnivorous plant. The leaf of the Pitcher plant is modified into pitcher like
structure to trap the insects. The apex of the leaf acts like a lid which can open and close the mouth of the
pitcher.
