and best practices in technical drawing and design.
3. Application of Annotation Techniques: Gaining the ability to annotate drawings
accurately, ensuring clarity and effective communication of design intent.
4. Creation of Detailed Technical Drawings: Acquiring the skills to produce
detailed technical drawings, including isometric views, orthographic projections, and
sectional views.
5. 3D Modeling Skills: Building competency in creating 3D models, providing a
three-dimensional perspective on design projects.
6. Efficiency in Design Workflow: Learning to use blocks and other efficiency tools
to streamline the design process and improve productivity.
7. Architectural Drawing Proficiency: Developing the ability to create
comprehensive building floor plans, elevations, and sections.

The hands-on approach of the training, combined with the structured curriculum, ensured
that we not only understood the theoretical aspects of AutoCAD but also gained practical
experience in applying these concepts to real-world scenarios.

(ii) Supplementary Materials

To enhance our learning experience, all the drawings we created during the course were
based on PDFs provided by the instructors. These PDFs included a variety of exercises
and examples that challenged us to apply what we had learned in class.

6. Challenges and Solutions
A) Challenges Faced During the Training

1. Understanding Complex Commands: One of the primary challenges we faced was

understanding and memorizing the numerous AutoCAD commands and their functions.
The sheer volume of commands and the specific syntax required made it difficult for
some of us to grasp quickly.
2. Time Management: Balancing the extensive amount of practice required with the
limited class hours was another significant challenge. Many of us found it hard to keep up
with the pace of the course while ensuring we thoroughly understood each topic.
3. Precision in Drawings: Achieving precision in drawings was challenging, especially
for beginners. Small errors in measurements or command execution often led to
significant deviations in the final output, requiring meticulous attention to detail.
4. Technical Issues with Software: Frequent technical issues such as software crashes,
slow performance, and compatibility problems with different operating systems posed
significant challenges during the training.
5. Adapting to New Software Interface: For many of us, adapting to the new and
complex interface of AutoCAD was initially overwhelming. The extensive array of tools
and options available in the software made navigation and usage challenging.
6. Retention of Learned Concepts: Retaining the multitude of concepts, commands, and
techniques taught throughout the course was a major challenge, as the intensive training
schedule sometimes led to information overload.

B) Solutions Implemented

1. Repetitive Practice and Interactive Sessions: To address the challenge of

understanding complex commands, our instructors introduced repetitive practice sessions
and interactive tutorials. These sessions allowed us to practice commands multiple times,
reinforcing our learning. Additionally, the use of visual aids and step-by-step guides
helped simplify complex concepts.
2. Extended Lab Hours and Self-Study Time: To manage time effectively, the training
center offered extended lab hours, allowing us to practice outside regular class times.
This flexibility enabled us to work at our own pace and seek help from instructors during
these additional hours. Self-study materials and practice exercises were also provided to
facilitate independent learning.
3. Precision Workshops and Peer Reviews: Precision workshops were conducted to
emphasize the importance of accuracy in drawings. Instructors demonstrated best
practices for achieving precision and provided tips to avoid common mistakes. Peer
review sessions were also implemented, where we reviewed each other’s work, providing
constructive feedback and learning from our peers’ approaches.
4. Technical Support and Backup Solutions: The training center provided dedicated
technical support to address software issues promptly. Regular backups and system
updates were implemented to minimize disruptions. Additionally, alternative software
tools and resources were introduced to ensure continuity in case of major technical
problems.
5. Gradual Introduction and Customization: To ease the adaptation to the new software
interface, the course began with a gradual introduction to the basic tools and
functionalities. Customization options, such as setting up personalized toolbars and
shortcuts, were taught to help us navigate the software more comfortably.
6. Regular Revision Sessions and Summarized Notes: To aid in the retention of
concepts, regular revision sessions were scheduled, where key points from previous
lessons were reviewed and reinforced. Summarized notes and cheat sheets were provided
to help us quickly recall important commands and techniques, ensuring we could apply
them effectively during practice sessions.
