Cold Chain Supply in Vietnam: Expanding Market

The cold chain supply has recently attracted the attention of many
businesses in various sectors, including retailers and many end consumers
in Vietnam.

The cold chain supply is a broad concept developed in many countries


developed agriculture, referring to supply chains have the ability to
control and maintain appropriate temperatures for different types of
goods, in order to ensure and extend the shelf life of products like food,
high-value agricultural products, seafood, fresh-cut flowers,
pharmaceuticals, vaccines, etc.

The demand for the development of cold chain supply chains has begun in
developed countries in the context of globalization, the increase in global
trade with perishable goods such as fresh fruits, seafood, fresh flowers,
and the global demand for high-quality goods in recent years. According
to statistics, in the last two decades, the countries with the fastest-
growing cold chains are France, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, and
Brazil... and in recent years, India and China have also been among them.

In Vietnam, the benefit of the cold chain supply is recognized when the
market is gradually expanding and opening up for businesses. The cold
chain brings practical benefits such as reducing production costs,
improving efficiency, and minimizing losses in the supply chains of
perishable goods (like fruits, seafood, agricultural products, fresh flowers,
poultry, frozen food, beverages, canned goods, etc.), serving both export
and domestic consumption.

Not only that, the cold chain also helps ensure food safety and hygiene,
protect public health, and safeguard the environment, reducing carbon
emissions. From an economic perspective, the cold chain contributes to
improving the quality of life and supporting sustainable development.
Actually, cold chain logistics are in the development stage, has great
potential. Tt is predicted that more businesses will participate . According
to Ken Research, Vietnam's cold chain market is projected to reach $1.8
billion USD by 2021.
