Introduction
Modern Tanaga/ Textula is a Filipino poetry
genre that traces its origins to traditional
Tagalog poetry called Tanaga. It employs
mobile phone technology to share short, 4-
line poems with 7 syllables per line and the
same rhyme scheme between lines. Has this
sign (/) at every end of the line

It allows poets to write and distribute


Tanaga-style poetry to others through text
messages.
What is tanaga?

The Tanaga is a type of short


Filipino poem, consisting of four
lines with seven syllables each
with the same rhyme at the end of
each line --- that is to say a 7-7-7-
7 Syllabic verse, with an AAAA
rhyme scheme
