PLAN Time (8:30-9:30/4:00-5:00)
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of plant and animal reproduction.
B. Performance Standard The learners shall be able to conduct a survey of products containing substances that can trigger genetic
disorders such as phenylketonuria.
C. Learning Competencies/Objective The learners describe the different ways of how plants reproduce.

B. Establishing a purpose for the The teacher will present to the class the Lesson Objectives:
lesson expected lesson objective to be accomplished 1. Identify the different parts of plant;
by the end of the discussion. 2. Describe the various asexual reproduction
that takes place in plants; and

D. Discussing new concepts and Analyze the illustration below. PHOTOSYNTHESIS
practicing new skills #1 Energy enters the living system in the form of light.
Light is the visible portion of the sun’s radiation.
Producers like plants, algae, and some archaebacteria
trap the light from the sun and transform it into
chemical energy lock in organic molecules that can be
consumed. This high- energy organic molecule called
the food powers various life activities. The process
wherein producers trap the light energy from the sun
and transform it into food is called photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is a process of food making done by
plants and other autotrophic organisms. The presence
of chlorophyll enables these organisms to make their
own food. Autotrophic organisms require light energy,
carbon dioxide (CO2), and water (H2O) to make food
(sugar).
Raw Materials of Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis starts with low- energy materials to
produce high- energy products. The raw materials
involved in photosynthesis are carbon dioxide and
water. These materials come from the environment.
They enter the leaf via specific parts.
Carbon dioxide. The reservoir of carbon dioxide
is the atmosphere. It diffuses into the leaf
passing through tiny pores called stomata (sing.
stoma). The carbon part in carbon dioxide is
important in the synthesis of sugar, the product
of the photosynthetic reaction. When in the leaf,
carbon dioxide dissolves in water and is stored
in the leaf in the form of carbonic acid.
Water is obtained from the soil. The roots
absorbed water and is transported upward the
leaves. Water is the source of electrons and ions
(H+ and OH-) needed in the synthesis of high-
energy molecules.

F. Developing mastery (leads to Activity 1: True or False Student’s responses:
Formative Assessment) Directions: The students will stand upright 1. False
facing the teacher. They will face to the right if 2. True
they think the statement is TRUE and if the 3. False
statement is FALSE, they will swerve to the left. 4. False
5. True
True or False: Photosynthesis occurs only
during the day.
Fun Fact: While most photosynthesis happens
during daylight, some plants can also perform a
form of photosynthesis at night using stored
energy!
True or False: Chlorophyll is responsible for
the green color in plants.
Fun Fact: Chlorophyll absorbs blue and red
light, reflecting green light, which is why plants
appear green!
True or False: Plants release carbon dioxide
during photosynthesis.
Fun Fact: Actually, plants take in carbon dioxide
during photosynthesis and release oxygen as a
byproduct!
True or False: All plants perform
photosynthesis.
Fun Fact: While most plants do, some, like
certain fungi and parasitic plants, do not
perform photosynthesis at all!
True or False: Photosynthesis is essential for
the survival of most life on Earth.
Fun Fact: True! It produces oxygen and is the
foundation of food chains, supporting nearly all
living organisms.
G. Finding practical applications of How does understanding the process of making Students’ responses will vary.
