SPEAKING TASK MAKING A DECISION

If a student is absent on the date of the task their mark will be 0, except for
justified absences. The student must contact the teacher to show her the
written proof within 7 days from their reincorporation and they will be given
a new date to assess the task. If the student does not contact the teacher
within the stablished period, the mark of the task will be 0. / Si un
estudiante se encuentra ausente el día de la evaluación de la tarea, la nota
de dicha tarea será 0, excepto en el caso de ausencias justificadas. El
estudiante deberá ponerse en contacto con la profesora para presentarle el
justificante dentro de los 7 días siguientes a su incorporación y se le indicará
la fecha en la que se le evaluará la tarea. Si el estudiante no le presenta a la
profesora el justificante dentro del periodo establecido, la nota de la tarea
será 0.
In couples, prepare a script to roleplay a situation in which you must make a
decision. The situation must include:
1- Minimum 6 vocabulary items of the Useful language for making a
decision. (You can find it on Sb p.27 and below, on the list titled
“Functional Language: Debating”). HIGHLIGHT these items on the
script, otherwise they will be considered as NOT INCLUDED and it will
negatively affect the mark of the task.

3- One problem. You can choose a problem from the following list, or you
can suggest one to the teacher:
a. There are not enough materials to develop the project.
b. A machine doesn’t work.
c. There is staff shortage to develop the project.
d. The company is overstaffed.
e. A manager / worker fails to comply his/her work obligations.
f. There is not enough time to develop the project.
g. Someone is stealing expensive material and equipment from
the company.
h. You are worried about hackers breaking into your computer
system and stealing or deleting important data such as
company secrets, project plans, customers data, etc.
i. One of your company’s engineers went abroad to develop a
project but he is missing.
4- Minimum 3 suggestions about 3 different possible solutions.
5- Minimum 3 justified answers to the suggestions some agreeing and
others disagreeing.
6- The final agreement.
