the population a year ago.
10 The price of sugar has been increased by 40%. By how much percent must this new price
be decreased to retain its former price?
11 A candidate P scored 25% marks in examination and failed by 30 marks, while another
candidate Q who scored 50% marks got 20 marks more than the minimum pass marks.
Find the maximum marks and minimum pass marks.
12 Kishore bought a CD player for Rs 3500. He sold it for Rs 3080. Find his loss percent.
13 Sangeeta bought a computer for Rs 25,650. Due to some defect in it, she had to pay Rs
1,350 for repair. Then she sold it for Rs 28,700. Find her gain or loss percent.
14 If the cost price of 14 apples is same as the selling price of 12 apples, find the gain or loss

15 A shopkeeper bought 100 bed covers for Rs 2000 each. Due to some calculation mistake,
he sold 10 bed covers at Rs 1200 each. At what rate should he sell the remaining, so as to
have a profit of 14% on the whole?
16 A CD player was sold at a profit of 10%. Had it been sold for Rs 25 more, the profit
would have been 12%. Find the cost price of the CD player.
17 Sandeep bought a pen drive and sold it at a profit of 15%. If he had bought it at 25% less
and sold it for Rs 20 more, he would have made a profit of 60%. Find the cost price of the
pen drive.
18 Honey sold a wrist watch to Kirti at 20% profit. Kirti further sold it to Muskan at a profit
of 5%. If Muskan paid Rs 441 for it, what was the cost price of the wrist watch?
19 A trader sells two articles at Rs. 6000 each. He makes a profit of 20% on the sale of the
first article and a loss of 20% on the sale of second article. What is his net gain or loss
percent?
20 Anuradha purchased some buttons at 3 for Rs 5 and sold them at 5 for Rs 12. She gained
Rs 143 in all. How many buttons did she purchase?
21 Sonu bought a shirt listed at Rs 850 for Rs 892.50 after paying tax. What is the rate of
tax?
22 Shefali bought a shirt for Rs 648 including 8% tax. Find the printed price (without tax) of
the T-shirt.
23 Ravi goes to a shop to buy a mobile phone costing Rs 32,100. The rate of tax is 7%. He
tells the shopkeeper to reduce the price of the mobile phone to such an extent that she has
to pay Rs 32,100 inclusive of tax. Find the reduction needed in the price of the mobile
phone.
24 A customer made the following purchases from a departmental store. Calculate his total
bill.
