It is our great pleasure to warmly invite you all to the 56th Annual Conference of Society of Nuclear Medicine India (SNMICON
2024) and the 29th Annual Conference of SNMI Southern Chapter (SNMISC 2024), which will be hosted by the Department of
Nuclear Medicine, KMCH, Coimbatore. The conference is scheduled to take place from December 5th to 8th, 2024.

Society of Nuclear Medicine, India (SNMI), established in 1967, has been a driving force in promo ng and advancing the field of
Nuclear Medicine in the country. With over 1600 life members, SNMI has been facilita ng the exchange of ideas and experiences
through its annual conferences. SNMI Southern Chapter (SC) has ac vely organized separate annual conferences since 1995, in
addi on to collabora ng with SNMICON. This year, SNMICON and SNMISC will have separate ora on and award papers, adding
to the diverse scien fic program.

We are proud to host the conference by Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH), a leading 1000-bed mul specialty hospital in
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. With a history spanning 33 years, KMCH has been dedicated to providing top- er healthcare services to
both urban and rural popula ons. Commi ed to modern medical prac ces and high ethical standards, the hospital has been a
pioneer in comprehensive cancer care since 2011, offering advanced Nuclear Medicine services and state-of-the-art cancer
treatments.

The conference theme, "Nuclear Medicine – Precise, Prognose, and Personalize," highlights the significant impact of Nuclear
Medicine in the precise diagnosis, disease prognosis, and personalized treatment of various cancers, ul mately leading to
improved cancer care. This four-day conference aims to bring together Nuclear Medicine professionals, including doctors,
technologists, professors, researchers, resident doctors, and students from across India and around the world, fostering the
sharing of experiences, research ideas, and the establishment of collabora ons.

The scien fic program will delve into the latest advancements in molecular imaging techniques, radionuclide therapy, and their
clinical applica ons. It will also cover topics such as radionuclide drug development, Dosimetry (featuring experts from South
Africa), radia on safety, and the medico-legal considera ons of SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and PET/MR fusion imaging. The emphasis will
be on interac ve sessions, debates, current evidence, clinical perspec ves, panel discussions, challenging case discussions, and
scan reading sessions with clinical colleagues, encouraging ac ve par cipa on from all delegates. Notable highlights include three
SNMI ora ons (Homi Bhabha, Brig S K Mazumdar, Vikram Sarabhai) and one SNMISC ora on (Prof N Ramdas). The conference will
also feature separate technologist’s sessions for three days, along with best paper awards, quiz compe ons for students, and
opportuni es for oral and poster presenta ons. The involvement of industry professionals will facilitate discussions on upcoming
technologies and further avenues for innova on, with poten al opportuni es for industry research collabora ons.

In addi on to the enriching scien fic discussions, we encourage all a endees to explore the vibrant city of Coimbatore, also known
as the "Manchester of South India." Boas ng a rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty, Coimbatore offers a wide

SNMICON 2024

Coimbatore, also known as Kovai and Koyamuthur, is a major city in South India, Tamil Nadu. It is
surrounded by Western Ghats. Bordered by Palakkad , Kerala. Coimbatore is the second largest city
in Tamil Nadu after Chennai . All major cities in South are in road reach of 5–8 hours like Chennai,
Bengaluru and kochi.
Mbr> The region around Coimbatore was ruled by the Cheras during the Sangam period between
the 1st and the 4th centuries CE and called as KONGU region . In 1804, Coimbatore was established
as the capital of the newly formed Coimbatore district and in 1866, it was accorded municipality
status with Robert Stanes as its chairman. The city experienced a textile boom in the early 19th
century due to the decline of the cotton industry in Mumbai. Post Independence, Coimbatore has
seen rapid growth due to industrialisation and is one of the largest exporters of jewellery, wet
grinders, poultry and auto components; the "Coimbatore Wet Grinder" and the "Kovai Cora Cotton"
are recognised as Geographical Indications by the Government of India. Being a hub of textile
industry in South India, the city is referred to as the "Manchester of South India". Coimbatore also
called as “Pump City”, supplies nearly half of India’s requirements of motors and pumps.

Tamil is the official language and Kongu Tamil , a dialect, is predominantly spoken. The city's
population is predominantly Hindu with minority Muslim and Christian population. Major Hindu
temples in the city include Marudamalai Murugan Temple (25km),Perur Patteeswarar Temple,
Eachanari Vinayagar Temple, Dhyanalinga Temple and Adiyogi Shiva(40km).. The mosques on
Oppanakara Street and Big Bazaar Street date back to the 18th century . Christian missions date
back to 17th century when permission was granted by the Nayak rulers to set up churches in the
region. Sikh Gurudwaras and Jain temples are also present in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore cuisine is predominantly south Indian with rice as its base. Most local restaurants still
retain their rural flavor, with many restaurants serving food over a banana leaf. Eating on a banana
leaf is an old custom and imparts a unique flavor to the food and is considered healthy. Idly, dosa,
paniyaram are popular dishes. Arisi paruppu sadam and sambar sadam, made from a mixture of
dal and rice, is a recipe that existed from the 4th century CE that is unique to the area.pallipalayam
chicken and nallampatti chicken, kongu naatu kozhi kulambu are famous local non veg spicy dishes.

Ø By Flight:
Coimbatore airport is an international airport allowing for both domestic and international
flights to Coimbatore. The airport is located 3 km from Le Méridien. Regular international flights
include those from Sharjah and Singapore. From the airport, cabs are available for hire to reach
other parts of the city.

Ø By Train:
Coimbatore Junction is the main railway station of the city enabling regular trains to Coimbatore
from major cities of the country. There are also other major railway stations in the city including
Coimbatore North Junction and Podanur Junction.

Isha Yoga Center, Dhyanalinga Temple, Adiyogi Shiva


Isha Founda on is a non-profit, spiritual organiza on founded in 1992 by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.
The founda on is run en rely by volunteers and it has over 9 million volunteers. Daily prac ce of Isha
Kriya brings health, dynamism, peace and well being. It is a powerful tool to cope with the hec c pace
of modern life. Isha Founda on's headquarters are located in an ashram on the foothills of the
Velliangiri Mountains, adjacent to the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. In June 1999, Dhyanalinga was
consecrated a er three years of intense process of prana prathista (process of energizing an object
using one's own life energies). Measuring 13' 9", Dhyanalinga is the largest mercury-based live linga
in the world.112-foot Adiyogi Shiva statue at the Isha Yoga Centre was inaugurated on Mahashivaratri, 2017, by the Prime Minister
of India, Narendra Modi. The statue depicts Shiva as the first yogi or Adiyogi, and first Guru or Adi Guru, who offered yoga to
humanity. It was built using 20,000 individual iron plates supplied by the Steel Authority of India and weighs around 500 tonnes . It
has been recognised as the "Largest Bust Sculpture" by Guinness World Records. A consecrated Shivalinga, Yogeshwar Linga, is at
its base.
Marudhamalai Hill Temple
Marudhamalai (temple) Marudhachalamurthy (Lord Muruga) Temple, Marudamalai is a popular
12th century hill temple build by Tamil kings during sangam period as shown in purananuru and
dedicated to Lord Murugan.. It is considered as the Seventh House of Lord Murugan. Marudhamalai
abounds in medicinal herbs and the pure air and serene atmosphere should make it a haven for the
health-conscious.

Arulmigu Pa eeswarar Swamy Temple


Perur Pateeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Perur. The temple was
built by Karikala Chola in 2nd century CE. . Lord Shiva, known as ‘Pa eeswarar’, is the presiding deity
of this temple together with his consort Parva , who is known as ‘Pachainayaki’. The deity is believed
to be ‘Swayambu Lingam’.

Gedee Car Museum


G.D Naidu, a popular Indian Inventor and Engineer was born here and he is called as the Edison of
India. Famous GeeDee car museum in his memory has vintage collec on of more than 100 cars ,each
with history of unique technology. Kids and adults both find this a rac on worth a visit to learn about
the beau ful, colourful and shiny cars from all over the world.

Brookefeild mall ,prozone mall and fun mall are three malls in Coimbatore .Broadway cinemas is
located near KMCH .you can go for shopping co on sarees to crosscut road ,100 feet road in
gandhipuram, oppanakara street and town hall(Pothys ,chennai silks ,PSR silks) ..Visit near by
rupur(45 km ) ,tex le city for shopping T shirts and pants .

Restaurants
Eat your favourite south indian foods ,Idli ,Dosa in Annaporna ,Anandhas and Arya bhavan
restaurants .Annaporna sambar idli and coffee is worth to taste .Non veg hotels hari bhavanam
,junior kuppana,Dindugal biriyani ,aasife biriyani ,Ambur star biriyani,Kannappa are nearby KMCH
.Taste kongu chicken ,mu on sukka ,naatu kozhi kulambu ,chicken kothu parota ,kadai fry and kudal
brain fry curry .

Ooty ,queen of hill sta on located 85km from Coimbatore .plan 2 day visit ,on the way visit connor
and kothagiri ,kodanad view point and overnight stay in ooty and enjoy cool weather .Go for boat ride
in ooty lake ,visit ooty botanical garden and rose garden.Dont forget to buy ooty varkees ,carrots
