HOW TO WRITE NEWSPAPER ARTICLE

There are two types of Newspaper Articles

Feature Story/Article
It is longer and more in depth than regular news articles. It covers one subject from multiple
angles and are written in a more creative, entertaining way.

News Article
It covers the basics of current events. It answers the questions: who what, how, where and when?
Both feature and news articles require the same level of research and commitment.

The Method:-
1. Plan your content (issue/theme)
2. Use a headline that grab the reader’s attention (Title)
3. Introduction: Five W’s (who what, how, where and when)
4. Main body: Explore the story in detail – detailed information, history, events.
5. Conclusion: Briefly explain what will happen in the future regarding the story –
suggestion(s).

Notes:
 Use to variety of sentences types
 Use different lengths of paragraphs
 Create an interesting piece
 Create sensation
 Need coherence
 Always use past tense in the article except last paragraph.
