Filipino Dances
Dance has always played a significant role in Filipino culture.
From the Tinikling, one of the oldest dated dances, to other
folkloric dances like the Pandanggo, Cariosa, and Subli, and
even more recent dances like the ballet, there is little doubt
that dance in the Philippines has integrated itself into
society over many years and is deeply embedded in culture.
Each of these dances has its own origins and has a specific
function, demonstrating how diverse Philippine dances have
become.

Bayani Casimiro

Bayani Casimiro Sr. (July 16, 1918 – January 27, 1989) was a Filipino dancer who was among the leading stars of
bodabil (vaudeville) in the 1930s and 1940s. He also appeared in musical films and later in life, in comedic roles. A
tap dancer, he was frequently dubbed as the “Fred Astaire of the Philippines”.

Gary Valenciano

Edgardo Jose “Gary” Santiago Valenciano (born 6 August 1964), also known as Gary V. and Mr. Pure Energy, is a
multi-awarded Filipino-Puerto Rican, singer-songwriter, musician, actor, music producer and TV host. Valenciano has
released 39 albums, and won the Awit Awards (Song Awards) for “Best Male Performer” twelve times. In 1998, he
became UNICEF Philippines’ first National Ambassador, a title he continues to hold. He is currently part of ABS-CBN
contract artists, having been a mainstay of the Sunday noontime musical variety show ASAP and the noontime,
weekday singing contest segment of It’s Showtime. He is frequently tapped to sing theme songs for the network’s
soap operas and in-house.

Devon Seron

Devon May Natividad Seron is a Filipina actress and a Television Personality. She started as a contestant in a reality
TV show and was voted as the Teen Big 4th Placer on the final night of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010. Following
her success, Devon signed exclusively to be one of the members of ABS-CBN contracted talents.

Enrique Gil

Enrique Mari Bacay Gil V (born March 30, 1992) is a Filipino actor, and dancer. He has appeared in various films and
television shows such as Mula Sa Puso, Budoy, Muling Buksan Ang Puso and She’s the One. He is best known for his
role as Alexander “Xander” Grande III in the television series Forevermore in 2014–15, alongside Liza Soberano.
Since then, he has starred in the films Just The Way You Are (2015), Everyday I Love You (2015), Dukot (2016), My Ex
and Whys (2017), Seven Sundays (2017), Alone/Together (2019) and the television series Dolce Amore (2016) and
Bagani (2018).

Maja Salvador

Maja Ross Andres Salvador (Tagalog: [ˈmaha]; born October 5, 1988) is a Filipina actress, dancer, singer, model,
occasional host and producer. She is currently under the management of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic and is regarded as
the “Dance Princess”. In 2011, Salvador co-produced and portrayed the title role in the film Thelma, which earned
her the Gawad Urian Award and the Film Academy of the Philippines Award for Best Actress. She is widely known for
her roles in the TV series Nagsimula sa Puso, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Ina, Kapatid, Anak, The Legal Wife and Bridges
of Love. In 2017, Salvador rose to prominence for her role as Lily Cruz / Ivy Aguas in Wildflower.

Philippine All-Stars was formed in 2005 by
twelve friends who had the same goal: to raise
the country’s flag by representing it in the
prestigious World Hip-Hop Championships in
the US. Since then, the HipHop dance group
has grown and has been nothing but a steady
tour de force in both the local and international
dance scene. They took part and emerged
victorious in different competitions such
as World Hip-Hop Championships, Kenya Street

A-Team
A fusion of the country’s most skilled dancers of
this generation, A-Team is another homegrown
group that has consistently made the Philippines
proud with its achievements. In addition to being
an official representative of the country and
taking home the gold in the biggest dance
competitions such as the World Hip Hop Dance
Championship in Las Vegas, USA, among many
others, A-team has also hosted workshops in
countries like Singapore, Guam, Hong Kong,
India, Russia, and USA.

UPeepz
Another Hip Hop powerhouse that has
triumphantly put Filipino talent on the map is
University of the Philippines’ very own UPeepz. A
back-to-back championship in Hip Hop
International’s World Hip Hop Dance
Championship is just the tip of the iceberg of this
group’s illustrious portfolio. Led by legendary
choreographer Chips Beltran, they also competed
in NBC’s ‘World Of Dance’ where they sealed
their legendary status.

The Crew
An OG name in the local Hip Hop scene, The
Crew is also a widely celebrated dance group
that has upheld the Filipino dance industry since
1997. That’s right! They’re a pioneer in the
Philippine Hip Hop dance community and have
represented the country on the international
stage countless times. Now, after more than 20
years of dancing with a purpose. they’re
extending their legacy of excellence by coaching,
mentoring today’s youngbloods.

TPM
TPM, short for Team Package Makers, is a
community of dancers and professional
choreographers bound together by their sheer
love for the art of dance and their common
purpose of inspiring peace, hope, and love
through it. After reigning supreme in VIBE
Philippines III, a prestigious dance competition
participated by the best crew across the country,
TPM went on to conquer VIBE XXIV Dance
Competition in California.
