Study area 1: Physical Education


Topic 1: Human body
Organs of the body – humans have external and internal body parts
1) name external and internal body parts
2) distinguish external and external body parts
3) discuss ways of caring for different body parts

Topic 2: Safety and health


Healthy living habits - healthy living habits at homes (healthy-related fitness:
endurance, strength flexibility, body composition
Safety – safety rules for various environments; warm up and cool down
1) describe healthy-living habits at home
2) state the health-related elements of fitness
3) describe activities used to develop health-related elements of fitness
4) perform activities used to develop health-related elements of fitness
5) outline safety rules in different environments
6) state the importance of warm up and cool down.

Topic 3: Aquatic skills


Water safety – Survival skills in and near water
Strokes – Floating with or without aid; sub-merging; water treading; arm and
leg action; gliding; breathing
1) float with or without aid
2) propel in water
3) glide off the wall
4) execute elementary front and back crawl actions

Topic 4: Kids athletics


Running – progressive endurance race; slalom shuttle relays (running round
obstacles)
Jumping – Jumping with or without equipment

Topic 1: Invasion games
Space awareness – open space, occupied space
Positioning – positioning within boundaries
Reaction – reaction into open or occupied space
1) demonstrate moving into open space
2) execute movements into occupied space
3) demonstrate positioning within boundaries
4) demonstrate reaction into open or occupied space (playing games such as tug games
and hwai-hwai)

Topic 2: Target and combat games


Aiming/Target – target up to 15 m; stationary targets
Stance – Balance on the base of support; weight transfer and distribution
1) aim at stationary targets using different objects within 15m distance from a standing
position
2) aim at stationary targets using different objects within 15m distance after a short run
up
3) lower centre of gravity to gain more balance when playing games
4) follow through when playing target games

Topic 3: Net games


Strokes – types of strokes
1) demonstrate the correct posture when performing strokes in given game
2) perform small activities demonstrating strokes
3) distinguish the strokes depending on the games they are playing

Topic 4: Striking games


Grip – correct handling of equipment
Striking – forward drives from stationary position; forward drives from a mobile position
1) demonstrate the correct equipment grip
2) state the dangers of failing to handle equipment correctly
3) hit the ball past a set point
4) hit a ball off a tee using correct hitting form and grip
