3. GENDER EQUALITY
4. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
5. IMPORTANCE OF CELEBRATING WOMEN’S DAY
ROLE OF WOMEN IN SOCIETY
◦ The woman performs the role of wife, partner, organizer, administrator, director,
re-creator, disburser, economist, mother, disciplinarian, teacher, health officer,
artist and queen in the family at the same time. Apart from it, woman plays a key role
in the socio-economic development of the society.
◦ Nowadays, the social role of women is evolving in the direction of taking a profession, while

increasingly men are taking care of the household .

WAYS WOMEN FACE DISCRIMINATION
◦ Women face considerable barriers to attending equal status to men in terms of
property ownership, gainful employment, political power, credit, education, and health
outcomes. In addition, women are disproportionately affected by poverty and
HIV/AIDs because of their lack of access to resources and cultural influences.
GENDER DISCRIMINATION
◦ Social and biological differences between women and men on the basis of which men
are considered superior to women is known as gender discrimination
◦ There are innumerable challenges and issues that women face that concern
physical and mental health. The problems like lack of education, improper
health facilities, gender discrimination, gender pay gap, inequal rights,
sexual harassment, dowry-related problems, domestic violence etc.
◦ According to the Global Gender Gap Report released by the World Economic
Forum (WEF) in 2011, India was ranked 113 on the Gender Gap Index (GGI)
among 135 countries polled
◦ Discrimination against women has contributed to gender wage differentials, with
Indian women on average earning 64% of what their male counterparts earn for
the same occupation and level of qualification
WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT
◦ Women's empowerment can be defined to promoting women's sense of self-worth, their ability
to determine their own choices, and their right to influence social change for themselves and
others.
◦ Nations, businesses, communities and groups may benefit from the implementation of
programs and policies that adopt the notion of female empowerment. Empowerment
of women enhances the quality and the quantity of human resources available for
development. Empowerment is one of the main procedural concerns when
addressing human rights and development.
◦ Women's empowerment has become a significant topic of discussion
in development and economics. Economic empowerment allows women to control
and benefit from resources, assets, and income. It also aids the ability to manage
risk and improve women's well-being.[4] It can result in approaches to support
trivialized genders in a particular political or social context.
WOMEN ARE
THE FUTURE
BUILDERS
For many females, it is common to
have felt limited by others’
expectations or perceptions, or
looked over due to gender
stereotypes at least once in their
lives. However, that does not mean
that women have shied away from
these challenges. Instead,
sometimes even against all odds,
ladies have doubled down on their
determination and drive in order to
accomplish something incredible. For
some, this looks like training for a
specific sport with the goal of being
the best competitor. For others, this
looks like fighting for political change
to better the lives of strangers. For
others still, it’s about finding
empowerment by embracing tough
seasons and hardships.
EQUALITY LIES IN THE MINDSET
◦ There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the
pen. There is a third power stronger than both, that of women.” —
Malala Yousafzai
◦ You draw your own box. You introduce yourself as who you are. . . . You
create the identity you want for yourself.” — Meghan Markle
