Windows Pre and Post Installation Checklist

1 Operating System Install Windows 10/11 Pro 64bit
Installation
2 Hard Disk Partition C: Recommended size 200 GB
D: Rest of the hard disk space
3 Hostname Change Set hostname to XXXXXXXXXXX
4 User Creation Create user account with the employee’s name
5 Windows Activation Activate with Finova Capital Pvt. Ltd. Key or OEM
License Key
6 Windows Update Install all updates and reboot.
Check again to ensure no updates are pending.
7 Default Software Install required agents
Installation Install Google Chrome
8 User Profile Based Install Microsoft Office (Standard/Basic/365), or
Software Installation other company specific applications
9 Requirement Based Install software only on recommendation from the
Software Installation License Manager
10 Account and System Move local users to Users Group from
Policy Administrators Group Apply appropriate account
policies (password policies, screen lock, etc.)
11 Antivirus Installation Install the approved antivirus software (e.g.,
Windows Defender or third-party antivirus)
Ensure the antivirus is UpToDate and runs active
scans.
12 Windows Security Enable Windows Defender (or any other antivirus
Configuration solution) and ensure it's up to date.

Configure Windows Firewall settings as per company
policies. Enable BitLocker encryption (if applicable)
13 User Profile and Ensure the user has appropriate permissions and
Permissions access rights. Map network drives, if applicable. Set
up OneDrive or other cloud backup services.
14 System Monitoring Install necessary system monitoring or asset
Tools management tools for tracking and health checks.
15 Documentation Document device information (hostname, serial
number, OS version, etc.) in the asset management
system.
Record software license keys for installed
applications.
16 System Cleanup Run disk cleanup to remove temporary files, update
logs, and unnecessary installation files.
Free up storage space by cleaning up the system.
17 Shutdown Shut down the system and hand over to the user
after confirming the setup is complete.
