1. A solid cylinder of radius 12 cm and height 20 cm is melted intro sold spheres of radius 0.5 cm.
Find the number of solid spheres made.
2. A hallow cylinder of outer radius 15 cm and inner radius 5 cm add height 20 cm is recast into
solid comes of radius 4 cm and perpendicular height 10 cm. Find the number of cones formed.
3. The area of the curved surface of a solid cylinder is 2200 cm2 and the circumference of the base
is 55 cm. Find i) height of the cylinder, and ii) volume of the cylinder.
4. How many revolutions will a roller of radius 0.7 m and length 2.5 m make to level a field 770 m x
350 m?
5. A cube is immersed completely in a cylinder containing water. If the level of water rises by 7 cm
and the base radius of the cylinder is 22 cm, find the length of the cube.
6. Bosco wishes to start a 200 m2 rectangular vegetable garden. Since he has only 50 m barbed
wire, he fences three sides of the rectangular garden letting his house compound wall act as the
fourth side of the fence. Find the dimensions of the garden.
7. If volume of a solid sphere is 38.808 cm3, find its radius.
8. A vessel in the form of an inverted cone is filled with water to the brim. Its height is 40 cm and
diameter are 25.2 cm. Two equal solid cones are dropped in it so that they are fully submerged. As
a result, one third of the water in the original cone overflows. What is the volume of each of the
solid cones submerged?
9. The surface area of a solid metallic sphere is 1256 cm2. It is melted and recast into solid right
circular cones of 2.5 cm radius and 8 cm height.
Calculate:

10. A solid is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone. The height of the

11. A hallow sphere of 8 cm and 16 cm internal and external diameters respectively, is melted into
a cone of 16 cm base diameter. Find the height of the cone.
12. A metallic sphere of 21 cm radius is melted and then recast into small cones, each of 7 cm
radius and 6 cm height. Find the number of cones thus obtained
13. A hallow cylinder of height 20 cm has outer diameter of 21 cm and inner diameter of 14 cm.
Find the volume of the material used to make the cylinder.
14. A plot of land has an area of 400000 m2. It is represented on the map by an area of 40 cm2.
i. Find the scale factor of the map.
ii. What distance on the map would a distance of 2.4 km be?
15. A solid right circular cylinder is melted into spheres of radius 2 cm. If the height of the cylinder
is 16 cm and its diameter is 20 cm, find the number of spheres made.
16. The outer and inner diameters of a hemispherical bowl are 17 cm and 15 cm respectively. Find
the cost of polishing it all over at Rs. 2.50 per cm2.
17. A vessel is in the form of an inverted cone. Its height is 15 cm and the diameter of its top which
is open, is 5 cm. It is filled with water up to the rim. When lead shots, each of which is a sphere of 5
mm diameter are dropped into the vessel, 1/3 of the water flows out. Find the number of lead
shots dropped into the vessel.
18. The model of a ship is made to scale of 1:200.
i. The length of the model is 4 m. Calculate the actual length of the ship.
ii. The area of the deck of the ship is 1,60,000 m2. Find the area of the deck of the model.
19. A cone of maximum volume is cut out from a 40 cm long wooden cube. Calculate the volume of

20. A child fills a spherical ball of 14 cm radius with sand. He empties the sphere and makes a
conical heap of 35 cm radius. Find the height of conical leaf.
21. 3 spheres of 6cm 8 cm and 10 cm radii are melted and recast to form a cone of 16 cm radius.
Find the height of the cone.
22. The vertical and slant heights of a cone are 24 cm and 25 cm respectively. Calculate i. The

31. The radius of the base of a cone and the radius of a sphere are the same, each being 8 cm.
Given that the volumes of these two solids are also same. Calculate the slant height of the cone.

the hemisphere and the base of the cone are 4.2 cm each and the total height of the toy is 10.2 cm.
Calculate i) the volume of wood used in the top, and ii) the total surface area of toy correct to two
