APEC stands for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. It is a group of 21
countries. These countries work together to make trade and the economy
better. APEC started in 1989. Some APEC members are the United States,
China, Japan, and Australia.
APEC wants to help countries trade. Trade means buying
and selling things. APEC also helps people get jobs and
keeps the environment clean. Leaders from APEC countries
meet every year. They talk about how to help each other and
work together.
APEC is important because it helps countries be friends and
grow together.
