USE THIS CHECKLIST IN CONJUNCTION WITH SAIC-A-2005, SAIC-A-2023, APPROVED TEST PROCEDURES & TEST PACKAGE
General Requirements:
A
(NOTES: Test Pressure = 1.1 x Design Pressure =_________ )
The axial gap between male and female component, as shown in Figure
SAES-L-110
A1 328.5.2C of ASME B31.3 code, shall be maximum of 3 mm and minimum
Para 5.2.4
of 1.5 mm. This gap is required prior to welding.
SAES-L-150,
A2 All construction joints in system under test are exposed.
Para. 7.3
B Service Test
Sequence of Service Test & Bubble Leak Test shall be per approved
procedure. This requires details regarding pressurization method not SAES-A-004
B1
applicable to strength tests. Perform Para 5.6.1
Service Test & Leak Tests Per Approved Procedure
C Strength Test is Performed in Conjunction with SAIC-A-2023 (Use Both with Approved Procedure & Test Package)
System is pressurized to 25 psig or 50% of system test pressure,
G.I.-2.102,
C1 whichever is lower, for preliminary leakage check. See Remarks
Para. [Link]
System walkdown for preliminary leakage is performed. G.I.-2.102,
C2
Para. 5.16
After satisfactory preliminary leak test, the pressure is increased in steps
G.I.-2.102,
C3 no greater than 1/10 of the strength test pressure.
Para. [Link]
(Required pressure rise per step=1/10 * Test Pressure=________ )
Each step of pressure rise is held for at least 10 minutes until the test G.I.-2.102,
C4
pressure is attained. Para. [Link]
Strength test pressure is held for a specific interval per code or SAES-A-
SAES-L-150,
C5 004 requirements but shall not be less than 30 minutes.
Para. 7.2
(NOTE: For specific cases, refer to SAES-L-150, Para. 7.4)
RESULT:
A) Pressure gages showed no loss in pressure.
B) Pressure drops indicative of
C6 As referenced
leakage. In either case,
Depressurize Safely per SAIC-A-2022

REMARKS:
NOTES: 1: SAES-A-004 (March 2005 Edition, Para. 5.6.1) now requires ASME Code Leak Test (Direct Pressure Bubble Test) per ASME V,
Article 10, Mandatory Appdix 1 "during" pneumatic strength tests. This also applies to service tests performed in lieu of pneumatic strength
tests. It is advisable, but not mandatory, to perform a preliminary Soap Bubble Leak Test at 5 -10 psi to identify leakage at threaded and
flanged joints (per SATIP-A-004-05). After repairs, a successful Mandatory soap bubble "Leak Test" AFTER strength test is presented to
COMPANY (HOLD POINT). Leaks at pressures higher than 5-10 psi (such as 25 psi) make soap bubble solutions unreliable for leakage
assessment as the solution can be immediately "blown away". COMPANY now requires "LEAK TEST" evaluation at 5-10 psi in accordance
with an approved LEAK TESTING PROCEDURE to assure reliable leakage assessment for new systems.
2. TESTING FOR LEAKS AT ANY PRESSURE OTHER THAN 5-10 PSI (FOR ACCEPTANCE) IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT SAUDI ARAMCO.
CONTRACTOR MAY EXAMINE LINES AT PNEUMATIC STRENGTH TEST PRESSURE ON HIS OWN. THEY SHALL BE EVALUATED FOR
FINAL ACCEPTANCE BY SAUDI ARAMCO AT 5 - 10 PSI.
